Refurbished Perfectwave Direct Stream MK1 Locks Up while Initializing

Hello Everyone. I bought a Refurbished Perfectwave Directstream MK1 DAC the other week and I started having issues with it locking up on the initializing screen. It won’t go to the main screen. The initializing bar is on fully loaded status. If I Disconnect the HDMI cable from the I2S port and re-boot I can get it to load properly where I can plug the cable back in and use the DAC. I tried leaving it powered on with the screen dimmed, but one morning I got up for work and the initializing screen was on and it was locked up. Software is Sunlight. Any suggestions? Thank You.

Not sure I fully understand what you’re doing but you should be shutting the DAC off either from the blue logo button on the front left corner or from the remote. If you are shutting it off from the rear switch it will reboot every time you tturn it on unnecessarily.

Repeat the process you used last time to get the DAC to fully boot and then turn it off as I said.

If none of this gets it to reboot contact PS Audio and they will advise you what to do. They may have to send you a rescue SD card.

I have one of those HDMI Video to HDMI I2S boards going to one of my I2S inputs. I have to disconnect every time I need to do a hard power cycle. It’s also in the users manual that all inputs should be disconnected prior to a hard reboot (power off/power on). Although from my experience, it’s just the aftermarket I2S stuff that needs to be disconnected.

Thanks for the info Joe. I was under the impression I could use the Dim button on the remote to put it to “sleep” until I used it next. I’ll try powering off from the remote while leaving the back power button on at all times. I’ll get back if I continue have issues. Appreciate the help.

Thanks for the tips.

You bet. I Appreciate it.

What’s on the other end of your I2S HDMI cable?

Hi Paul. I have the AirLens Hooked up to it. So far things have been smooth by powering it off via the remote.
