Yeah, sure, whatever you say…
Always my skeptic.
Photos would go a long way here…
It is closed and in the rack already. Anyways you could not discern anything. Hijacked? With what proof? This is easily feasible. Just because no one else could manage it… everything is the same exact spec. Just better quality components. I understand that I lie about everything… I will put a DSS in the bathtub for all I care. I have a VIVALDI, Loaded MSB Select DAC II, DAVE,AYRE AX-20,EMM LABS, MANNHATTAN II,GRANDIOSO… Yes, I am a big fat liar.
Post a photo of the parts you took out then…
I know, you threw them away already…or they are locked in safe and you forgot the combination. Wait, I know…your dog ate them…
Actually my mountain lion ate them.
Really? No photos of the removed transformers, resistors, capacitors?
It didn’t happen if there are no photos…
I assume you mean “Lavry Gold”. What clock chips does the Lavry Gold use?
I have no idea bro look it up. I am not sure that they even make it anymore. I am sure you can find an archive.
I honestly discarded them and trash already came. If you don’t believe me I am fine with that. I do not see what the big deal is?
It’s not a big deal…I just think you are making it all up.
You are most certainly entitled to your own opinion
I would just appreciate that you do not smear my name.
proprietary and patented
@Ted - So, if one replaces the DS analog board today, this is the one you will get, ref. post#86 (?)
That’s the TSS analog board. The DS analog board is significantly smaller.
Here’s a link to the upgrade instructions for the DS:
On page 15 you can see some pictures of the analog card (and how to put it in.)
Thanks.
I should have known, but was momentarily confused by the thread title ‘Modding the Directstream DAC’.
Hi guys.
I did it. The standard transformer on my DS was replaced with XS4400. The result is fantastic!
Cool. Was there any noticable “burn-in”?
Hi Ted.
The replacement was made on October 26th. I deliberately waited out time for the initial “warm-up” of the transformers, so as not to make hasty conclusions and not to give erroneous advice to the respected community.
The first week, the sound floated strongly, there were moments of delight and grief, but from Monday everything began to return to normal.
The changes were fundamental and they are not comparable to the changes when the firmware was replaced. DAС has moved to a completely new level! I could not even imagine that DS has such potential. Delightful!
It is obvious that the “burning” and adaptation of the transformers in the DS has not yet been completed. I think this will take at least a month.
Thanks so much Ted for your advice on replacing transformers! They gave a second life to my beloved DAС.
Is this just a solder out/solder in job?
Yes.
