No such thing as overkill with this hobby.
though we try
are you sure…maybe query the police and your spouse’s inclinations?
"over my (your) dead body, will you ____ "
I believe you hear what you hear. But for me the Puritan has no business in my audio system at all. It is fine in my home theater setup.
Believe me, the fact you didn’t like it really caused lot of doubts in me during last weeks about the Puritan, because I highly consider your opinion as a veteran and respected audiophile of this forum and more expert than I am. So I’m testing and testing different solutions to investigate deeper and better understand, having a few critical listenings. Am I influenced by some placebo or psycho effect? Don’t want to “promote” a mediocre product or give false expectations to other members, for sure.
Having said that, I’m still liking what I’m hearing and unfortunately I don’t know why. Maybe my particular home power or system (or tastes) play a role.
Within a few hours my electrical engineer should clarify what is wrong in my current quality after having monitored it for a week. It could provide us an answer, I hope. I’ll keep you informed.
I just gotta say what I believe!
I believe I’ll go listen to music. New vinyl!
Luca, It doesn’t matter why you like it.
If you’re eating a meal that you enjoy and someone who you respect tells you it’s awful, should you doubt the message that your taste buds are sending to your brain?
If the advice comes from Al… mmm at least I’d wonder if the restaurant is the same, or the chef is the same or we have eaten the same meal but with a (lot of) different wine!
I’m simply searching for a reason, a flavor, an inherent character or circumstance that makes me happy with this setup. To be useful to other members getting a better idea. If possible, otherwise I’ll stay in my ignorance and I’ll keep enjoying my system as it is. Life’s too short.
Also there’s no such thing as a stupid or dumb question. All questions are valid when trying to solve a problem or learn something new.
Now answers on the other hand can be stupid.
I will have to respectfully disagree. Over the years I have heard several. Not here on the forum, but at work… Oh man.
We can probably blame that on bad parenting but that is a whole 'nother can of worms.
Maybe it’s the European power. Like a fine Italian sports car and Italian cuisine maybe is just better with the puritan!
Luca,
thanks for doing all that work and hearing what you heard! And thanks all others , for all the great info. I was interested in Puritan and very much liked your detailed review. Congrats. With your review, and others, I went ahead and added a Puritan156 w/ Ultimate cable into the mix. GREAT RESULTS, as you described! It didn’t have much to compete with as my BHK300s went straight into the wall prior. I knew this was an issue, but wasn’t expecting this much improvement. For 1/5th the price of PP20 and associated cable, and 80 pounds lighter, sound is much improved. Most likely not PP20 caliber, but great for now.
I use Shunyata Denali 6000/2 for BHKPre, DSD MKII, PST, and Auralic G2.1. I have been big Shunyata fanboy, but i may try replacing these more expensive Shunyata cables for Ultimate, not sure. FR30’s and “T-wired” Silversmith Fidelium cables complete the system. Up next installing some fuses! Yes, and thank you all for that great info.
Thanks everyone, and PS Audio and PS Audio forum.
Thanks, if you have the chance try the Puritan feeding ONLY the DAC, in my case the result is similar if not better than feeding the amps. With all sources and pre plugged to the P20. Let us know. Good luck.
Congrats…
Welcome back home for starters!
A beautiful black monster you’ve got there. Enjoy breaking it in and learn how it really performs in your set the coming weeks.
Please share your experiences!
Nice chunk. Have fun and hope it doesn’t sound like a pancake.
Wooohooo congrats luca…
Will be hard to pry you out of
your music room now!!!
Best wishes
Nice looking one! We got the new dishwasher installed today and it is a nice looking one too in silver (well, stainless). No music until later.
