Thank you for your info. I just finished a short holiday in Slovenia - did not see any high end store but it is an inspiring country with very kind people. I have a ribbon system Apogee Caliper set. It is already old but still functions too good to dismiss. I am thinking about an overhaul just to get the best out of it-again. The Calipers are about 1,20 m high, and radiating sound from the front and back almost 360 degrees around the speakers. Placement is critical to get the best imaging. I see you placed the speakers very near the back wall. That's at least good for the WAF factor too!
I had to place them this close to the back wall due to the size of the room.
The ideal position is far from the back wall and near field listening, meaning that you sit quite close (in a triangle) even if there is a lot of space behind you.
What can I say, they really speak for themselves.
This is world class - nuff said.
My Sonus Faber Extremas are just blown out of the window.
=D> I like it...!
Thanks.
It has some of the same personality to it as the Extrema had, even if the design differs.
You cannot stay passive to this design. You either like it or you don't.
@frode so what is the SQ effect of the PS? Itās bit pitty itās design is not matched to Lumin itself, but SQ is always more important (at least for me )

Even before burn-in I think the sound is more distinct/less muffled.
This area is also where the PWD has an edge over the Lumin.
It is also quieter.
It needs 100hrs so I will return in a weeks time with my verdict.
I am happy so far!
Regarding the design match, the PSU is DIY so it is not expected.
Having said this the craftmanship leaves a very good impression.
Nice review and a good choice, Frode. When I came back from hearing Paulās system one of the things that struck me about my system was that it was thin or lacking in power by comparison. Some of that is the DS DAC but clearly the IRS V has much power and body. The reviewerās description of the baffle, which also function as a waveguide for the ribbon, get me thinking about trying a similar arrangement with my line source drivers. I never thought of sweeping baffles forward being worried about creating a cavity resonance. If the bump caused by the waveguide was low enough, though, it could be beneficial down where the driver begins to roll off. Are the baffles slightly convex facing forward?
There are no baffle for the woofer. The woofer is mounted on a bracket system (directly on an industry grade aluminum base).
If you mean the baffle for the ribbon column they are curved.
They are designed with a CAD/CAM system and cut accordingly.
The gain is 6dB.
And you redecorated! Iām messing with baffles on mine with good results. I never thought to use them as a waveguide and it hasnāt adversely affected the frequency response like I was afraid that it would. Really solidified the midrange.
