In my last conversation with them they said they have a new updated web site about to be unveiled that will greatly improve all levels of communication with the company. Also pointed out how easy it was for them to just get up and walk into the next room to get a status of an order, which she did - still a month or 2 out on my LRS’s. Their size is one of the things I like about them, that and their products are outstanding.
I found their marketing to be great. After I got my LRS speakers I sent a short note to Eric , my sales guy. The next morning I got a call from the legendary Wendell Diller (Maggies longtime head of sales, marketing, and product development) we talked about lots of things for over an hour, including some set up advice. Minnesota Nice!
Customer service for sure, but their marketing (beyond the one-to-one relationship stuff) is a bit behind the times.
But customer service, yeah… I wanted to replace the socks on mine, and I chatted with Gary, their sales & service manager. He invited me to the factory (about 20 minutes from me) and I got a tour and got some new socks for a good price and it was all happy happy.
That is really cool
When my brother bought his 20.7s, he got a call from Wendell asking him why he didn’t get 30.7s!
Actually, when Wendell found out I was retired, he tried talking me into becoming one of their home-based dealer/showrooms. I told him I was HAPPILY retired, and that anything bigger than the LRS wouldn’t fit in our house!
Back to the LRS vs 0.7
i talked to the dealer of Magnapan, and i’m not sure the ETA of the shipment of 0.7. He says it may take 3 months to delivery but then he is unsure, but i have to pay first . Seems like most of dealer of Magnapan is just selling over phone. there is no website for online order, tracking status and this make me thing of where the money will go to.
My question now is how SQ of LRS compare to 0.7?
i watched serveral video on YT and see people using the Rel sub with very good clean bass suplement ed.
I may go for LRS instead of 0.7 but the LRS which is available for shipment is $1330
still in the middle of consideration which one to go
Anybody can help on this comparison ?
I would love to have the more detail and crisp, clean treble but not sure which one of Maggies can deliver
They charge your card for the speakers and shipping (LRS was $80) when they actually ship the speakers. Very safe.
thank you for the links
the 0.7 use the base stand instead of L stand, so will the 0.7 be able to use the Magna Riser ?
how can it fixed to the Magna Riser
There are two stand choices when you buy the speakers. L-brackets (which mount to the back of the speaker frame) and some kinda oval base thing (which mounts to the bottom of the frame). The ovals are a couple hundred dollars more expensive. (Not a fan, but that’s neither here nor there.)
Regardless of what stands you choose, the speaker frames are drilled for both.
The magna risers mount to the back, into the same threads that the L-brackets would go.
I built some quickie ones out of walnut. They mount in the back, just like the magna risers.
Uhhh… they are doing this now? I mentioned this to Wendell several years ago….
My understanding is they have been doing this for many years. Wendell wants to expand in to new territory.
Yeah, kind of does; except my understanding they are down to 3 elderly employees making speakers. They have ceased servicing products unless a warranty claim. They used to be 3-4 weeks back ordered, but now it’s 6 months and some models are not being made.
They guy who runs their marketing thinks he’s brilliant, but can’t sell squat. Have a look at the website and try to determine differences between LRS, .7, 1.7i and why someone would buy one model over another.
The product is so DARN STRONG it sells its self after anyone listens to one and learns the price. I have a few friends who used to be authorized dealers. Magnepan has very strict rules for reselling and make them unhappy and you get dumped. Example, many customers buy stiffer frames for the speakers. If a Maggie dealer sells a frame stiffener or new frame, or different frame/stand they get dropped.
These speakers are extremely remarkable and astonishing for the price.
Finally , just ordered the .7 instead of the LRS because of wider soundstage and image stereo, bass tight and deeper
The order takes 2-3 months to deliver, Magnapan makes speakers based on orders, hopefully It comes on-time
From just about less than 700 for the LRS, now it been >2000 bucks for .7.
Man, I’m crazy.
Congratulations! As long as one is observing their commitments towards self and family, it is well spent money!
@Serhan Well, money poured to audio stuff up to now is equivalent to a new Toyota Camry 2021. But i’m still using 7 years old car, maybe others over here can buy a new house, sound weird right ?
Well, I know some who own posh hifi; but no car! To me, as long as the car runs fine and has a warrant of fitness, it stays!
i’m always obsessed of finding the crisp, clear with clarity and detail of treble, high frequencies, guitar string to pop out of background that a speakers can deliver, the Magnapan can be an answer, i hope.
A pair of MA gold 200 took me 5K include tax and ship, but honestly i’m not sastified with them.
I hope the Magnepans meet your expectations, and give you many years of enjoyment.
