I asked Alvin about the best SFP modules for the inside of the SW-10pro and his recommendation: Leave it alone. The modules in there are optimized for best sound quality.

Leave it alone. What a weirdo! You think he’d encourage people to tear down his many hours of genius labor just to find percieved short comings that don’t exist. Maybe he could sell a DIY version like a parts express and knock a couple bucks off the final price. That could satisfy the tweakers who are not happy enough with the $300 fuse and $5k power cable fixes. No offense I’ve done some expensive fuses in my day.
Why would you care, 1475 in the audioside is a major upgrade in my system, and it is easily reversed.

Ya absolutely, the Muon Pro should be the #1 step in a networking optimization - followed then by switch and other measures. And glad you enjoy it already that much!
Oh there is no debate on that. I can hear the difference changing the power cord on my SW6 makes. I have a bunch of Optospan fiber and SFP modules I need to run still. It is just the usual paradox of choice and buyer indecision…
When people gush about Muon Pro, are they referring to the entire streaming system, or just the cable?
They all are excited about the filter, which is the essential part. The streaming system consists of the filter plus the Ethernet cable. This is also an excellent cable and adds to the improvement.
The new Muon Pro does not have a fixed output
cable. This gives you the option to use other Ethernet cables.
I have the earlier fixed cable model. I have found other output cables to my liking verses the Muon cable.
Refresh our memories as to what they may be and more importantly what they brought to the table.

It’s been a while since the swap from the Muon cable, but I did hear a difference. It just sounded more natural to me.
The price differential between the Muon and Stealth cable wasn’t scary so I took the plunge.
Easy peasy.
Good to know should I pursue a Muon Pro. Some day likely, until then vinyl satisfies.
I recently got a nice vinyl setup and found myself using digital a lot less, to the point where some days I wouldn’t even power up my Tambaqui DAC. Few things are as satisfying as a nice vintage pressing of your favorite artists from the golden days of classical recording - digital never gets you as close to those old performances. But the other day Roon randomly started playing the Boulez/Chicago Mahler 1 recording (1999 DG), a conductor/piece/label permutation that would normally not be at the top of my list. And I was shocked how great it sounded, both recording and performance-wise. With a good modern recording, my digital setup gives up only a little to analog and can obviously do some things it can’t. Which is all to say both media can be great and I feel very fortunate I can thoroughly enjoy recordings regardless of format.
(I will add that the most recent additions of SW-6, Furutech DAS-4.1 interconnects, a solid wood rack I constructed and of course the Gryphon PowerZone got me to this happy place. I assume Muon Pro with AS10 Pro or Tempus will make it that much happier…)
Congrats on your fabulous system. I believe your assumptions are correct regarding Muon Pro and either switch! I am envious of the Gryphon Powerzone from what others have said of it. I will have to stay with P20. I pulled the trigger a bit quick with AS8 Pro, otherwise I’d have got the AS10 Pro which I wasn’t aware of at the time of order.
Little steps next for me for now, but next big steps will be a toss up between PMG DAC & Pre, versus MU2. I also use my room as a home theatre so the pass through for home theatre makes the Pre attractive.
