They’ve stopped rare earth mineral exports to USA, without which USA won’t manage its high tech manufacturing
I am more worried about empty shelves in stores that will happen soon. It is one thing to say manufacturing goods in the USA, but in reality, it will take years for that to happen. Frankly, many goods even with 145% tariffs are still cheaper from making them here.
Could say the same for Australia and most of the western world. We are expensive.
The Tempus may be unavoidable.
If that turns out to be true, it would be nice if NA had a smaller version for folks that only need a couple of ports. I’m currently only using a single port on an SW6 at my rack and don’t have, or see a need for more ports in the near future.
With the exception of the MUON Pro, no SFP, fiber cable, Ethernet cable, Ethernet to Fiber converter, switch, none of these, ever seemed to make a difference I could hear. I am only using two ports myself. But more people I know are listening through the Tempus.
Peer pressure is hard to ignore. I wish I could try one.
I think the nature of the beast needs the real estate to work its magic with all the components inside so a smaller version isn’t possible. IMO. The end result? You get extra ports.
Let’s roll back the clock a couple years, just for a quick moment. Try covering your unused switch ports with a strip of 3m AB7050HF😀
You’re better off, Al. Every fiber module, switch, Ethernet cable, that I’ve tried sounds different to me. What an annoyance. ![]()
That “bigger than necessary” Tempus with all those ports was my contention as well. As explained by their marketing director, Rob, who was at Axpona,
was that there was little economy to reduce ports and that the size is “needed”.
The design is their build from the ground up, not a
Cisco revamp.
Great emphasis is on the isolated power supply.
They are also going to come out with a router power supply shortly, called the Origin. No more details. Voltage selection (5v/12v) and connector configuration will be available. I have given them my needs and hope to get one. I could not get an off-the-shelf one, like IFi, to connect to my router.
Brand new Origin! As soon as officially launched, I could say it works well even compared to Sean Jacobs linear power supplies.
Hybrid power supply type for switches and routers seems to make sense lately.
In the meantime, don’t ask me more…
LHY-AS6 switch order just received, Florida; a hefty beauty
ISP Modem/Router - 150 feet ethernet cable to Finisar FMC ($61) - Finister SFP - Finisar fiber cable, .5 meter - Finister SFT at AS6 - Isolated Port - 50 feet ethernet cable out to Streamer
connectivity confirmed, now for some listening
Did you need to pay tariffs for LHY AS-6?
no
Aliexpress?
no, beatechnik
aliexpress was going to add shipping and tariff
I’ve decided to stick with Alvin, regardless of putative lower prices elsewhere
Good idea if you ever need any warranty help as none is available with Ali Express on LHY products.
Same here! I have heard differences from all these streaming cables and tweaks. The other day I removed LHY SW-10/FO/SW-6 from the chain because I was hoping Muon Pro System alone was enough.
Not even close! The system sounded so uninvolved; to a point that I believe the duo switches with FO is more important than Muon Pro! Yap, I said it. It was a profound downgrade.
I have lived without Muon Pro System for some time, and I was fine. But I do not think I can listen to my system without the duo. I did not even have any wine when I tried it.
Wow!! I can see my next purchase
I’ve placed my order for one “Upgrade LHY AUDIO AS6 SW6-SFP 6-Port Hifi Audio Ethernet Switch”.
Maybe two is better but I’m thinking of putting my etherRegen upstream with FO to the LHY.
I’ll let you know what I think after it settles in.
