FYI… I stumbled across an updated firmware release (27th Jan 2026) for my PMG Pre. I haven’t yet upgraded it to this version as it’s currently with the importer for the remote receiver fix.
It would be good if all registered owners got an email notification of firmware updates.
Thanks for the heads up. While downloading the pre files I noticed that the PMG transport also has new firmware available dated Jan 12.
Yes it would be nice to know about updates when they are released, if not an email then at least here on the forum. The DS Mk1 & 2 updates were announced here on release, sometimes even a little before. Don’t know why this is no longer done, maybe PSA could announce updates in the future.
Yep, some had significant problems with Mk1 and Mk2 updates. My recollection is that the problem for many was getting the files onto a memory stick uncorrupted (usually formatting issues). This led to problems later in the update process. I was lucky, never once had a problem with those updates.
With the PMGs updates are a bit simpler although preparing the usb drive is the same. The new menu structure makes checking the version number much easier than with Mk2.
When Ted was around and did a FW update on MK1 or MK2, we usually got an announcement from PSA. Ted sometimes would discuss the changes he made in forum. I missed that!
Unless you check PSA FW download site regularly, you will not know there is new FW update. I didn’t know my brand new PMG SACD T. has an update already, until someone posted here (when doing FW on PMG512 ).
The release notes for 2.3.0 say improved display performance, I didn’t notice any difference. Also allows ejecting a disk via the remote. That works; also closing the tray via remote works.
Yea, I miss the DS code updates and Ted’s discussions as well. I think there will be very few code updates for sonic improvement in the future, but with the performance the three PMG components give now I won’t be looking for updates for a while.
I don’t have the PMG Transport but have followed the discussion. There is no dedicated eject button on the remote, so how does one eject? Is it by pressing the stop button twice?
Is there any info on this preamp update? I assumed the PMG Pre was 100% analogue and wonder if this update has any effect on sound or is it all function?
