New PS Audio speakers?

Paul, any plans on doing Octave Records demos for YouTube once the FR30s have gone live?

PS Audio Aspen FR30 on Instagram.:

Lots of uninformed, conventional wisdom spewing forth in the linked Instagram “thread”, IMO…

I heard the B&W D4 801’s yesterday and they seemed to have changed something in the new tweets so they aren’t as harsh as the last Diamond series. The sound was great from the speakers they were driven by Classè Delta sigma monos. Obviously I have not heard the new PS Audio speakers but at the 801’s price point they will be a competitive choice.

Could be the Classe pairing- extremely warm electronics in my experience. I heard the 805d4 with a tube amp (forget which, maybe a vtl?) but it was a brief listen.

Usually when I see B&W demo’d at dealers the pairing is with McIntosh or Classe or the like

Jealous haters are gonna hate jealously. And spew whatever vileness will get the most attention to their jaded cause. Another reason to shy away from “social media” websites.

How did they sound with tubes?

Another reason I hang out here…

I am lusting after those Vicoustic’s corner traps.

On my list of upgrades…

Sounds like you had a great trip.

I think they had just been unboxed earlier that day so not broken in. I am probably not the best person to ask about recent-ish generation B&W.

Tons of respect for brand (and they populate my HT setup kept from my music setup 20 yrs ago) but not really to my preferred sonic style how the house sound has changed in last 20 years. Tho perhaps it has changed again with d4 rev - I couldn’t say as to that (as mentioned they weren’t broken in). This just my opinion ymmv. B&W obviously has a large following.

And I will say, as a college kid in the 90’s it was hearing B&W in audio dealer showrooms that really opened my eyes and ears to what hi end audio could be above the typical Best Buy stuff that I’d heard before. At that point I knew my first real system would have B&W speakers when I could afford it (and as I say, I still enjoy and use those speakers for HT)

I see many positive threads about Hifi gear on Instagram and this one is not entirely negative if you read all the posts.

Many manufacturers utilize Instagram for advertise that and new product teasers and announcements.

It is the second thread about the Aspen FR30 that is not posted. By copying Paul I hope the PS Audio sales team can rectify some misinformation. Regardless if you like social media or not, wrong information is sooner or later going to hurt because it is a large public amongst which potential buyers that read it. Not every audiophile is on the PS Audio forum.

Hence my writing, “Lots of uninformed, conventional wisdom…”; as opposed to a more sweeping comment.

I may have my head in the sand, but I just don’t see a consumer of $28.5K speakers considering Instagram as authoritive.

Amen to that

You’re setting that bar pretty high. How about $5K or $10K?

Thanks for the stats. It’s nice to have data confirm my suspicion.

The only time I have used Instagram is to look at the work of a local jeweler who took up posting her work there vs her website. Somewhat bittersweet she had a child a year or so ago and has all but stopped her craft. I do miss her work, I have bought a good bit over the years for my Wife.

I assume she had the baby to spare me from Instagram.

Not that it matters, but isn’t it about time to update the photo on the website’s main page to feature the “real” FR30’s" instead of an early prototype?

So when are we going to see any external reviews on the speakers? Have there been actual deliveries yet or are they still just sitting at PSA?
