Happy (belated) cake day Scott!

Thank you.

news about the PSA subwoofer?

lots of new toys these days, but quiet about this subwoofer

The only recent news I have heard is the sub is being worked on and its release estimated for later this year.

@andynotadam, re your two stacked Rel Carbon Special subs, looking for advice.

I also have two, one firing down the room, the other one across the room.

I’ve wondered about stacking them to have both firing down the room, which is obviously longer than across the room.

Have you any experience of the above and would you recommend me stacking my two?

Absolutely in the works and moving through the snail’s pace we’re seemingly relegated to with these things. Maddening for me who wants to go, go, go. We have first articles, they work great, Chris is working hard on all the electronics: wireless, all the DSP options, stacking keit, etc. Killer bass form a 12” the likes of which I have never experienced.

Paul, two questions. Will it have continuously variable phase, and will it be able to be line driven from the output of an amplifier with differential (“floating”) output?

Let me check on the phase question but yes, certainly, the high level inputs (like from your power amplifier outputs) will certainly be there.

Thanks Paul, but a double check here would be appreciated. REL, for example, can be driven by an amp with floating outputs. Rythmik cannot. Try it on a Rythmik and amp goes boom! :collision:

Yup, not the case with us. We know better. You can connect whatever you want from an amp (we make both types so it’d be crazy for us to make a subwoofer that would go boom with our amps )

@sheridd2 I actually have four REL subwoofers in my fairly large (540 sqft) room, three Carbon Specials and one Carbon Limited.

The stacked Carbon Specials play both channels (hardwired high-level to my AGD monos) and are located in the front right corner of the room firing mostly straight ahead (I’d prefer them to fire more diagonally, but that doesn’t really work in my setup).

A third Carbon Special is connected wirelessly via high-level Airship to left channel amp, and is located on the left side of the room, just ahead of the plane of the speakers and fires diagonally towards the right rear corner of the room.

The Carbon Limited is connected high-level to the right channel amp and via Longbow and is located on the right side of the room roughly in line of the listening position and it also fires diagonally toward the rear of the room.

As a result of all this craziness, bass response is very smooth and uniform everywhere in the room and the house as a whole. They are crossed-over quite low (with the stacked REL crossed-over a bit higher than the one below) and levels are are around 8 or 9 o’clock.

Adding the fourth stacked REL improved soundstaging and perceived bass speed and slam.

Andy, I’d love to see a frequency response plot of your room from your listening position.

Yes, we have continuously variable phase, level and gain adjustable on the rear panel and then those plus advanced features (parametric EQ, delay, sound presets) via phone app control.
