House of the rising sun by cyndee peters. Is a must for the new direct stream DAC. It shows just how good this DAC. Is. The recording is a 10 of 10. When I receive my unit it will the very first track I will play.

Al

Good choice.

I have Showcase-1 and now tempted for the other two.

Wonderful, I just bought it. Thank you for the recommendation, it worth it

I’m listening on the PWD2, It sounds “real” :-D.

Would you recommend the other downloads availables on this website or only the Showcases?

Opus3 releases are always well recorded. I like all of my Opus3 SACDs. Some (all?) of the “disks” have a demo track that you might check to see if you like that particular kind of music. I just bought 7 of them. Eric Bibb is always great IMO.

Yes there is. A demo. But as I am really looking for the best in quality I learn to like them. It is amusing even with there high quality some seem better than others. I guess as we improve the transparency of our systems it’s the price we pay in the end.

I figure as we wait in anticipation for our new direct streams it would be a great choice as a demo to play. I always do the DSD 128 as there is not much offering in increase in detail there is in over all realism in getting that analog sound.

Ted again thanks for your reply.

Being on a vacation really has allowed me to listen more to my music

Al

Listening is always good  Playing my Eric Bibb’s now.

I have a bunch of there stuff. It’s all really good quality but you need to like the music. For Me I learn to,like it.

Track one of the new one rising sun. I do not know what that horn instrument is. It sounds like a saxophone but with a odd read Pice. Her voice is haunting as well . If someone here can tell me what it is that would be cool. Also there is DSD of Elvis

It’s vol 2 but no ones knows of a vol 1. I do not care if you are a Elvis fan or not. The recording on this DSD download will chAnge that. His voice quivers as he sings. Also his vocal banter before and afterz each tune just puts you there . If you like the opus 3 for quality this Elvis is a must. It will flip you out.

By the way just 13 used for the DSD 128 download whata bargain.

That link seems to be for the SACD. One source of the DSD download is here:

I finally bought the 3 Opus3 (Showcase 1, 2, & 3). $ to € conversion helped a bit

For the moment I found most great recordings on Showcase1 (did not yet listen n°2).

What a sound! Yes Eric Bib is playing very well, very good music.

Is it the sound you get with a DirectStream playing a standard PCM file (well recorded of course)? I switched back to a PCM file and (aaargh…) now I’ve the feeling to may be better understand what Gordon is talking about realness. But may be I’m wrong…

Yes that’s it. I own it from there .

Al

Very promising.

The Opus 3 recordings are excellent. I have many of their SACDs, and more recently the DSD downloads from DSD File.

They actually sent me the DSD128 version of "Meetin' at the Building" by Eric Bibb for signing up! Great freebie.
Also there is DSD of Elvis' Stereo '57, Volume 2. I do not care if you are a Elvis fan or not. The recording on this DSD download will change that.

Right. Elvis Stereo '57 is an excellent Stereo SACD - and DSD Download. Chad Kassem from Acoustic Sounds played the track "Peace in the Valley" at RMAF in Denver last October on the Sony HAP-Z1ES DSD Music Server to debut his Super HiRez downloads service. It wow'd the crowd there. Amazing sonics.

And to think that the Stereo Master Tapes of Elvis Stereo '57 would have been erased if it wasn't for Bones Howe.
