P10 plus power cable

It is a great deal BUT since you wanted talked out of it and already have a new cdp, buy a power base for your p10 and another for your new cdp, then throw in some ac10 or ac12 power cords for all of your components.

ahhhh... the voice of reason! Yes I am in the process of auditioning the Powerbase versus Stillpoints as well as various power cords. Thanks man!

It’s too late - He’s hooked. Now Tboooe has to buy PowerBases as well as the PWD/PWD combo. Thing is that he needs to move quickly on the combo as it is a limited time offer, and an incerdible one at that.

@wingsounds13, man I am totally hooked! Can I borrow $4K? $-) As I mentioned in another thread, if PS Audio had a high quality streaming only device I would be all over it to replace my Sonos. Funny thing is that I started to look at Powerbases this morning as a way for me to get my PS Audio fix without breaking the bank. I must admit, after reading the PB thread I am totally confused on how it should be used (wall to PB to PP or wall to PP to PB or just by itself without any AC)…my head is spinning.

Don’t over think it… When you get your PowerBase(s) just try it all three ways and use what works best with your system. Yes, this is a cop-out answer, but unfortunately in the world of high-end audio it is the way things are. No one solution is right for all systems and all installations.

I will suggest that wall > PowerBase > P3 is probably the best solution, but this still may not be true in your system.

No problem. My rates are very 'reasonable.' >:)

The PWD with the bridge is absolutely killer sonically speaking, and keeps getting better as various bits and pieces of software are improving.

Soooo tempting. If I had only known about this deal prior to purchasing my Luxman D-06 cdp! I want to get rid of my Sonos so bad and the PWD + Bridge would have killed two birds with one stone for me. The free PWT would have been icing on the cake. My only hesitation (aside from a dwindling bank account) is the sound of the PWD versus the Luxman. I really like the liquid, dare I say almost analog like sound of the Luxman. What's the PWD's sonic character?

You were already on the right track to begin with! After many agonizing attempts at every possible configuration I finally settled on wall>power base>P10 like J.P. recommended.
Congratulations the Luxman D-06 is a fantastic sounding player, and the build quality is off the charts. No need for any regrets there. Have you auditioned any sacd's on it?

Look forward to your PB impressions......

I replaced my sonos to stream directly through the bridge and I ran full speed back to the sonos (with W4S mod). I was happy to give up a tiny bit on sonics, but the ease of use of the sonos makes up for that 100%.

I would recommend using a bridge and the sonos side by side and decide after a week or so doing a-b sound tests and ease of use tests.

Thank you for the advice. I will definitely try that configuration out first. Do you use the included short AC cord from the PP to PB or an aftermarket one? it seems that would be a weak link or is the length too short to matter?

As for the Luxman, I absolutely love it. I used to own the Esoteric P3/D5 combo. Though it was very good, I felt that I was still missing something organic to the music. The D-06 gives me that missing emotion and connection to the music. I am I the process of picking up some SACD to try out. Do you have any recommendations?

Can you please tell me more about the W4S mod? I am considering the Empirical Audio Synchro Mesh which is a similar reclocker but it is an external device which I prefer in case my Sonos ever dies I will still have the reclocking feature. Were you using the PWD with the Sonos? Are you saying the Sonos>PWD did not sound as good as Bridge>PWD?

I am not as critical listener as many out there and I don’t have the need to listen to 24 bit files, 16/44.1 sounds awesome to me.

I did not really hear a difference between the sonos and the bridge. Especially because jriver kept crashing on my laptop and streaming from my NAS drive it stuttered a lot.

There was a big difference though between the standard zp90 and the one with the w4s mod. It does what the standard one does, but better. Low, mid, high and soundstage really improve.

For power conditioning I used a power plant premier and after that a P5. When my p5 was at ps audio for repair I used an old API power wedge and I am still using it. Again, maybe if I say down to dissect the music there might have been a difference, but I didn’t hear any.

The thing that did work for me though was the Noise Harvester and playing around with power cables and interconnects. There in my opinion you get the biggest bang for your buck to fine tune your setup.

Thank you @rmkarman. Do you use an aftermarket power cable with your Sonos?

I am using the stock one for now. In a week or so I will change for a ps audio jewel and see if there is any difference.

It all does depend on how you use your setup. If you really sit down and want to hear every detail and nuance, my approach might not work for you though. I am more a casual listener.

I have my PWD and PWT on my PowerBase, but am powering my P5 with the PB. Thus, I use a one meter power cord from the wall and another to the P5.

I suggest starting with whatever configuration happens to be appealing to you. Listen for a bit and try other configurations and power cords. The little cord that comes with the PB is a nice quality heavy gauge cord which I have found works nicely.

I started with the supplied short AC cable, and the length worked great between the PB and P10. This combo sounded fine but curiosity got the best of me. I happened to have an old PSA Plus cable floating around, installed that, and the sound improved. Then I caught a deal on a 1 meter PSA AC10 and took another step forward. While auditioning that I found yet another deal on a .5 meter AC12. While the AC12 in this length is a bear to work with due to its short length and stiffness, this proved to be the ticket. The AC12 sounds incredibly neutral and has an openness and transparency in the midrange that is addictive. I'm also hearing new details in familiar recordings which is always a treat.

Regarding SACD's, Norah Jones "come away with me" is a good audiophile reference. The original sacd release was supposedly just an up sampled version of the cd, the new one features a true high res sacd layer. Both sound fantastic.

Also Fleetwood Mac Rumours from Warner Japan sounds great. I heard this disc on a Luxman D-05, and during "Dreams" Stevie was literally in the room. You can almost "hear" her head moving as she continually adjusts her distance to the microphone.

If you like Elvis his "24k gold hits" sacd sounds amazing. The Police's first album on sacd has some incredible dynamics in addition to some great tunes.

Thank you most @mosttoysrsk…I am going to pick up up the Norah Jones and Fleetwood Mac. Boy those SACDs are pricey! I am used to buying used cds from Amazon for $0.01!!!
