Buzzb,
I let it roll down and placed a strip of the backing peel material over the overhang. That allows more absorber to collect display RF emissions
You have to install lid at angle like shutting a car hood

Since doing the fuse and 3M mods my system seems a tad bright. In a not great way. I may swap out the fuse and see if that is it. If that isnât it I may undo the mods to my Grimm MU1. OrâŚ
Arenât you cleaning bunnies?
I âd try removing external piece over the i3 processor maybe that will shift it prior to reopening it or reduce its size
The fuse may work after that
If you must open it.
Might pull the piece over clock oven first then the smaller ICs.
.
Kewl ideas Darrell. Thank you!
When I get done cleaning bunnies Iâll try them.
Please let me know what you decide on. Were your new interconnects broke in or had they set awhile? If filled tubes you might be hearing dielectric burn in from conductors touching awhile being repositioned for hook up.
I opened up the Grimm and removed any and all 3M material from it. I approve of the results. Iâm going to focus in the future on only horribly expensive tweaks utilizing Leprechaun bone technology.
I recommend ground Unicorn horn. Itâs sparkly.
Sparkly AND horribly expensive?
Of course.
To be clear, Unicorn horn grows back. So no Unicorns were hurt during these tweaks.
The expense comes from the effort to get them to agree to a trim. Apparently they are slightly addicted to ground Leprechaun bones.
Male or female Unicorns?
Male if you want a more aggressive sound. Female for a more detailed and warm sound. Of courseâŚ.
Everybodyâs all about the horn, but the tail is where itâs really at.
Sorry that absorber didnât work out long term on the grimm my SGC i5 has balance and no harshness just smoothness in my system. The Grimm came with a much cleaner starting point noise floor wise, I presume, than my relatively low budget streamer thanks, for giving it a go. Like any system adjustment it takes long term listening to judge if it is the right move.
I tried a cable swap between my preamp and the LPS on my router for grins. That move turned everything to mud in short order. Despite having absorber everywhere else. I couldnât stomach two songs. I hadnât been that unhappy like when I tried swapping cables from the preamp to DAC. System synergy relative to power can be a strange animal. The preamp cable is the least selective in my system.
Itâs all good my friend. I love your enthusiasm and dedication to trying new tweaks. After a couple of weeks of listening after making the change I thought things were sounding thin and a bit shrill. Right now everything is fat and woody again. Itâs odd that the addition of the absorbers did what they did. But it was very easy to remove the items and save them for later if I wish to try again.
Sounds like a Pixar âToy Story Sequelâ or âŚ. PerhapsâŚ.Something less G rated?
It did cause me to wonder what pulling my foil wrapped mono amplifier power cables might sound like ? Yes it returned what can be coined a fat woody sound but certainly a dull and lifeless system for me. Enough so to order thick copper conductive tape and return to my tweaking ways though thinner aluminum foil delivered less live and dynamic sound. This hobby is not one size fits all.
One size fits Al.
Hi Max,
I hope you donât mind me asking again. Did you stick the AB7050HF pieces under HDPLEX aluminium cover?
Thank you
Serhan,
I only applied small pieces directly to the tops of the ICs in the HDPLEX300. I posted photos of the before and after application. The number of capacitors located throughout the unit would be affected by larger piece placemenst on the lid. The R core transformer doesnât benefit from a absorber piece applied to lid either do to how EMF waves cancel out in that design.
Thank you! I just checked them. I needed to focus a bit to see them
