Paul’s last post on YouTube regarding SACD transports

I just saw Paul’s latest video on YouTube:

I added a comment to that video mentioning that a Perfect Wave SACD transport for me is out of reach (€9000 in Europe). And that for me a Sony UBP-X800 M2 connected to my new Strata mk2 through a Chinese HDMI conversion box works like a charm

Writing that, after watching Paul’s video made me wondering: Wouldn’t it be possible to use a cheap (Sony??) Blu-Ray drive in a Stellar SACD transport?

I know, it has been discussed often and it’s probably much more difficult and expensive than I think it is… :sunglasses:

Hello. May I ask what Chinese HDMI conversion box are you using?

Quite a lot of people that want to play SACDs found the Chinese box. I’m sorry, but I have no idea who the manufacturer of this box is and as Joe’s link above shows, you’ll have to go to EBay, it’s not on Amazon.

You’ll find a good starting point in the following thread:

Thanks to Joe’s posts, I found this option and for me it worked almost in one go. I just had to connect the HDMI cables. Although my Strata mk2 does not recognise the bit rate in the display (seams to be a problem in the Strata firmware), SACDs, Blu-rays- and CDs play without any problem
