Came across this ‘Purple Passion Flower’ as I meandered by a community garden.
I’d never seen such a flower; not even at the Botanical Gardens.
Interesting. Quite unusual.
Did you pick the chicken of the woods?
Just snapped the pic. Not my kind of mushroom to eat but understand others do like them.
Your new camera is really quite versatile. I’m jealous.
Clematis…?
I ask because this is like kudzu in my yard. I have to cut it back frequently so it does not overgrow other plants and overwhelm my front porch.
It propagates readily and I often find new shoots sprouting from the middle of the lawn (all summer long).
I found a USDA pamphlet on the flower.
PURPLE PASSIONFLOWER / Passiflora incarnata L
It’s considered invasive and is prolific, as you stated.
Thanks for this.
Cheers
Yup
I was playing around with some free, on-line, photo editing software. Quite fascinating from the perspective of a cellphone user who does his editing in the camera.
Anyway, when I take photos, I sometimes see them as paintings; akin to other paintings or styles I’ve seen over the years. Here are two examples of what these online sites can do.[Granted, they are very crude - but it gets the idea across none-the-less].
This is a sunny afternoon in Washington Square park, in NYC.
I often go there because of the seasonal foliage, changing light and people.
This is of the Washington Square Arch.
This is “enhanced” in an “Ukiyo-e” style. It’s subtle without being overwrought.
I enjoy Monet’s painting style and vision. This enhancement gives a rough Monet look.
Taken the same day, just a few feet from the first photo, I was intrigued by the individuals residing in their own private worlds, the richness of the vegetation and the mottling of
the afternoon light through the trees.
Seeing a Cezanne filter, I though it would be appropriate to give this a try.
Again, nothing great, but interesting just the same.
I am not a photographer and do not pretend to be one. But, the advent of the cellphone camera and online filtering/editing software makes this such a wonderful pastime.
I really like your work with the “painting of the pictures”. Well done.
Thank you. I’m glad you liked them. It’s always interesting to observe how folks interpret the world through their photos. I always find it enlightening.
