Very striking! I wanna be there!

@DuneKidd

The Legian Seminyak Hotel, specifically.

Obsessed with the supermoon last Saturday. Now have a Nikon Z7ii with almost twice the resolution which is great when you’re cropping an image quite heavily. Other exposure/equipment details below the image:

ISO 64, 560mm (400mm with 1.4 teleconverter), f8, 1/100s, -0.7ev, 1319 x 1311 pixels.
And… a good bit of post processing in Adobe Lightroom. Very fun “hobby” not unlike audio.

I also goofed and didn’t capture this with a RAW/NEF file which also helps with dynamic range, color saturation, etc. See you in about a month with another attempt!

and can get pretty expensive very quickly not unlike audio.

I have amassed quite a collection of Nikon “glass” (lenses). That’s where all the $$ goes.

I had Nikon glass for a long time. Then switched over to Zeiss lens (Milvus line - manual) on a Nikon body. They are fun to handle.

Outside my office, the night before last:

No filters. 5:40 EDT.

I have never seen a lavender sky before.

Hmm, have any nearby chemical plants recently exploded?

Google search…

What is a lavender sky?

“This is partially due to the optical illusion of the pink wavelengths lighting up the base of the cloud (due to the low angle of the sun’s rays), and these pink clouds superimposed on a dark blue sky. The combination of pink and dark blue can make the sky appear a deep purple.”

It’s a thing?!

I just described it as a lavender sky because of the color presented.

Thanks for the information.

Thanks. Not to sound snooty, but in person it was even better. Believe it or not, I didn’t photoshop either picture. The storm clouds at sunset were probably helped by a forest fire further southwest.
