Monoblocks.

I went to a “concert” there a couple of times - much better than a car park

Salisbury or Stonehenge? They do quite a lot of concerts at Salisbury Cathedral. Chap I know recorded some Vaughan Williams there.

Ah no that would be Stonehenge - The Enid, Here and Now, Hawkwind, Roy Harper, Wishbone Ash, Tentacles of Ozric, and other such unwashed hippies
(Some of it was recorded for posterity though)

I remember The Enid, highly educated scruffs, had a few of their albums, and Wishbone Ash.

A few inside Salisbury.

yes the Enid were very good, the Hawkwind crowd were not too receptive to them sadly, to the point that the lead Enid threw a bit of a strop and complained folks should love them a lot more since they’d provided the PA and stage for the festival. didn’t endear then to the crowd…

It makes one wonder how that structure could have been built 800 years ago. I’ll bet it took 50 years or more to build.

Actually it was built in record time, a mere 38 years from foundation stone to consecration. Almost as long as the Octave Server, although at least Salisbury Cathedral is finished. One reason being, I presume, the relative peace and latter prosperity of the reign of Henry III, who is more famous for building Westminster Abbey. One of the most famous things about the place is that they have the best preserved and best written copy of Magna Carta, which is a wonderful thing to see. Thanks to social distancing and limited numbers you get to see it on your own for as long as you want. I saw it at the 800th anniversary in 2015 at the British Museum and it was surrounded by a crowd.

Stay safe.

Yikes. That’s getting close to home.

There are very few climate change deniers around here. Well probably a few, but they also think the Earth is flat.

Are there any concave earth theories out and about. Flat just seems so pedestrian to me.

Right, if you’re going to be crazy go all out!

This is SoCal fire season, well it’s really year around now, but traditionally we get the Santa Ana winds that drive West through all the canyons between the desert and the coast. Sustained winds can be 50-60MPH with gusts to 70-80MPH. There is no stopping fire when the winds and heat kick up. There’s plenty of fuel grown each winter.

Conditions are much more favorable today, lower temps and onshore breeze causing the burn to head East into rural areas. God speed.

121 degrees in LA! I lived in climate pleasant Santa Barbara from 1953 to 1956. I can only recall fun times in pleasant weather.
Yes, God Speed,

Ahh. Only 38 years. I wonder how many stone masons or helpers died during the build.
Although construction projects are relatively safe now back in the '70’s when I was doing that work it was normal to expect one death per year in the build.

Stonemasons and the like were skilled artisans and were well looked after. I’m sure they had medical and pension benefits.

Meanwhile, here’s some pretty flowers.
