PI2AES support DSD64 via DOP or Native?
Thanks!
We can support DSD over PCM (DoP), but not DSD. This is a limitation of the Raspeberry Pi I2S interface. You need to use USB if you want DSD.
@mkelly6505 , thanks for your reply.
Dop 64 its supported?
In PSAUDIO Direcstream is there still the problem of inverting channels? Or has this already been resolved?
Yes, that problem does not exist anymore.
Hi, I understand it is compatible with PS audio Directstream and how about Perfectwave mk 2 … I do not successful to connect.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I haven’t personally tried but if it works with the DSD, it should work with the PWD.
@jamesh is the resolution of the channel inversion specific to the PIAES or was it solved for every streamer that showed this issue with the DS Sr.
It should not be specific to the PI2AES.
@mkelly6505 Hello, any plans to make a hat with I2S output via HDMI cable in the PS Audio format? Especially one that could manage DSD256. Or is DSD256 not possible with the PI4 if it is not USB output?
If no such plans, can this existing hat be used with a Pi4 in a network based on HQPlayer? I would use AES output then.
Note: I do not Roon. But in addition to HQPlayer, I use LMS.
Thanks.
interesting seeing this bubble to the top.
I pinged michael via email about i2s a few days back, as I recently got an nice HDMI cable from @mobilesax
Using a Denafrips Pontus II and I’m comparing it to the AES/EBU connection and was asking him about testing it with both cables connected at the same time, etc…
Anyway I have to say, i MUCH prefer the AES/EBU connection. The Pi2AES sounds wonderful.
But regardless of how I configure the i2S settings on the Pontus II, it emits a disturbing “pop” or “click” every once in a while. Maybe once every 15 minutes or so. Plus I think the AES/EBU connection is more comfortable sounding. i2S seems harsh.
Doesn’t matter what cable I try.
My other system has another Pi2AES, but it goes into a Topping D70 DAC. Via I2S, it sounds just dandy.
Ahdunno. Weird.
I think the later Pi2AES units (ver. 4?) were PSA compatible. (At least I think I remember seeing that on another forum.)
