It’s finally here!!
I might be interested in learning more about the VS T-shirt “tweak”.
Vicariously yours.
[PS: Just kidding/no offense intended/a ham-handed attempt and some crude humor]
I’d like to read what you think about this release.
Where did you get this release? Music Direct says Sept. 23rd.
I preordered direct from Acoustic Sounds. It shipped Thursday and got here this morning.
The deluxe edition includes a CD, BluRay and DVD along with LPs. The SACD is done by Analog Productions like they did the other Floyd SACD releases.
Mine too. It’s supposed to be here today or Monday. Though it is coming FedEx, so more likely I will be filing a claim vs. enjoying the fruit of my labor.
Yeah. I hear you. My “2 day” coffee shipment after 2 weeks was re-shipped by Costco because it magically disappeared.
Of course now I need to drag out the BluRay player to rip my DSD layer. First world problems, I tell ya.
In a word? Thick. There’s a moment at about the seven minute point of “Dogs” where the whole mix just seems to grow. And in “Pigs (Three Different Ones)”, roughly in the middle, the subwoofer just goes nuts, shaking the entire room. It’s not out of place, but it’s…not subtle.
Overall? I like it. A lot. But it’s a different mix for sure.
I was just thinking about where I put the USB stick.
I listened to the first 2 tracks on Qobuz 192/24. It sounds very good.
Very pleasant listening from Qobuz, thanks for the advice. It’s on my SACD purchase list.
The Blue-Ray audio mix is excellent, especially when compared to the original one. Noise-floor, resolution, localization of instruments, and an overall sense of evocative ‘unveiling’, allowing a shift from listening to feeling.
I got my standard 2lp vinyl through yesterday and span it last night.
Just got really lucky, didn’t even clean it first, got perhaps 3 pops through the whole record, but they sounded like dust pops rather than a defect as such.
The sound is amazing although I don’t have an original to compare to.
The SACD sounds excellent. The LP remix sounds great too, but the quality of the vinyl itself is questionable. Mine is a tad noisy on the first track on both sides. A lot of vinyl defects are being reported online.
The SACD is exceptional. The music is much thicker and richer. It really uses the .1 in 5.1 a lot, especially in “Pigs (Three Different Ones)”. At the six-minute point, it literally shakes the walls.
Still waiting on my Deluxe set; it hasn’t shipped yet. Hoping my late order got me a better pressing, but not entirely optimistic.
I am in the same situation you are in.
The SACD layer RIP I have makes me wonder if I need the vinyl. LOL
Had I not ordered both at the same time I’d probably not get the vinyl. I’m hoping the big book is nice at this point.
The Blu-ray interested me as well.
The SACD is a keeper. The synth low end on track two was surprising .
