Also note that the typical transfer rate of a NAS is limited to in excess of 50Mb/s.
A test with the cheapest 2-bay model of Synology:
We tested the NAS using two 3GB Western Digital Red hard disks. When configured in Synology Hybrid RAID, the disks gave us a storage capacity of 2.68TB. Every generation of Synology NAS enclosures brings a bit of extra power, which means you’ll see faster throughput speeds than previous two-bay j-series NAS enclosures. In our SMB transfer test, the DS213j provided a large file write speed of 74.5MB/s and a read speed of 56.4MB/s, which makes an average 65.5MB/s. Small file speeds are always slower, and the DS213j’s small file speeds are no exception, with a write speed of 13.1MB/s and a read speed of 17.5MB/s for an average of 15.3MB/s.
It gives you access to the web page to configure the server, then
go to section “Media Servers”
You should see your minimserver or any other upnp server
check the box create a proxy Media Server on this Lan (the other box is used for external access…)
go to section Media renderers
you should see your DS player…
select it and check the box " Create an open home render"
in the settings / advanced section
unchek any transcoding option since it is the job of Minimserver or you don’t want the audio stream to be downgraded before reaching a DS Render !
Then in any Controlpoint software in your Lan you should see the new Server “MinimServer [Cache]” in addition to the standard Minimserver, as well as an OpenHome variant of your DS.
Linn software will the see your DS render as it is remaped by Bubbleupnp server as an OpenHome compatible one…
Thanks, but if you saw my snipped pictures you would see that all of what you suggest are done. The only difference is that I am using my Aries as the renderer and not a BII in the DS.
My problem is that not all renderers on my LAN turns up inside of the BubbleUPnP server configuration, so I can’t make an OH version of the renderer of desire.
Ok sorry I didn’t see you allreqdy had most of the setup correctly done.
Is your Aries connected on a specific routeur ? What is your network topolgy / setup ? Have you tried to connect it to the same router as the Nas ? It could be router issue as some upnp anouncement (UDP) does not cross some router…
