I was truly expecting it to become his new reference, replacing the LTA but it didn’t end that way, even though he loved it.
Steve clearly loves tubes. So do I. I own the BHK Pre, BHK 250 and BAT CD Player. Hard to let go of that tube sound. Although, Steve did get my attention when he spoke about the piano and PMG - since my listening is 99% classical piano music.
I play piano (poorly) and have my share of piano recordings. Piano thru the PMG Pre sounds “right”.
Good attack, decay, harmonics. Steven G and I agree, l guess. Nothing like a home demo.
It is very much a prototype but it’s wicked cool to use and I am anxious to get the next generation delivered.
Thanks @Paul !
interested to know timelines and whether it replaces the current mutifunction remote.
PMG upgrade of my BHK PRE is looking likely at some time.
cheers!
Good call, Philip. You’ll be blown away at the difference between the two.
For everyday use, yes, this new remote will replace the multifunction one. I wouldn’t get rid of it…but for using the preamp/DAC as the volume control and/or input selector as well as the SACD player, it’ll be all you need to operate the system.
Love big knobs. ![]()
I’m wondering, will that remote also work with equipment of the other PSaudio series like Perfect Wave and Stellar?
@paul, will this thing work as vol and next/prev for the DAC as well?
You betcha. The remote codes for our gear are all the same so any of the remotes work. The main difference in PMG is that the remote is RF based rather than IR based. Thus, on the new fancy remote it has both IR and RF.
That sounds good, but I guess they will be priced like the PMG series and after the renovation of our garage number 1 on my list are FR10’s ![]()
It would be nice if the recipients of the next wave of PMG DAC’s would post their impressions so that other members of the forum who may be wondering how it compares to the MK II or even the MK I.
Will the new remote be a separate item to purchase or will it supplement / replace the current one for the PMG Pre?
Thanks,
Phil
It’ll be a separate item to purchase for those who wish to enjoy it’s pleasures.
Thanks Paul - makes sense, and looks substantial.
It is in fact substantial and a really beautiful metal sculpture that feels like an entire component in itself. I can’t wit to get this out and, more importantly, to use it!
Will the new gadget be able to control Vol for the DAC too? Also if the DAC is the pre and roon is used, can the buttons do next/prev?
Yes and yes.
