Looking for insight around what the PMG 512 DAC can / should be able to support, format and ‘bit rate’ wise?
In this case DSD 256 going into the PMG512. I notice that from my Antipodes K50 local SSD via USB into the PMG, DSD 256 shows up and plays fine. Streaming however … it will play but with umm.. interruptions. I am wondering here if this a buffering at the source side using UPnP or a limit of the streamer module in the DAC?
What have folks tried?

I regularly stream DSD256 from my UPnP server to my 512 DAC without issue. Have you downloaded and installed the latest version of the streamer software? The skipping used to be problematic back in the streamer 2.x version days.

When you say the streamer software? Do you mean the Firmware on the PMG 512? That side of the equation is on the latest 3.12 I believe is the version?

Don’t know if this will help but it seems like a fairly major update.
Just a little confused. Seems like there is a new firmware update for the PMG pre but upon download it seems to be for the PMG 512. Maybe this can be reuploaded?
According to what I have read, there are firmware updates for the DAC side as well as the streamer side. Somewhere in the forum folks have described how the streamer is updated.
Yes, that’s what I mean; 3.0.12 is the latest streamer firmware for the DAC. The UI/display firmware has to be downloaded, copied onto a USB stick, and plugged into the back of the DAC. I see there’s a new version available dated 5/2/26, but I don’t think that’s likely to affect streaming performance.

So I can stream DSD 256 happily to the K50 but not consistently without chop to the PMG512. That is fine - I don’t have a lot of 256 content and can stream 64 and 128 okay to the PMG. The K50 is connected via USB to the PMG512 - so I get the content there one way or the other

Where do you see this on the PSA site? I still see just the January Firmware drop of the PMG 512 DAC. I know an update is imminent to change the UI options, so I am eagerly waiting for it to drop. Many thanks
Just downloaded this but have not updated. @Paul the new firmware is for the PMG 512 DAC. It’s mislabeled for the pre.

Hi Jaycee - yes a bit disconcerting being in the wrong section of the firmware download site - but you are right its the DAC software. And I am very happy to see it - the new look UI with the format and bit rate is a great outcome - thanks to @Paul and the team for actioning that
