Also issue of how many equipment owners actually are active on the forums…
I’m sure a majority of them are not on the fourms. But there must be a percentage of fourm members here who are experiencing zero issues with the PMG DAC I would think.
What are the odds that just fourn members are experiencing issues?
I’d also add that the amount of different problems and the volume of users reporting problems for the PMG 512 is significantly more than for the PMG Pre or PMG transport. I understand that the forums only capture a small cross section of users and that reports are biased toward problems vs lack of problems. Hence the comparison to forum comments for the two other PMG offerings. It’s not even close - PMG 512 clearly has more issues. Granted it is likely a much more complicated piece of equipment as well.
Another factor is the total number of each unit purchased. I suspect there are many more 512’s out there than transports. not sure about 512 vs pre.
It is a very small sales and service team, the busiest sales month of the year and one of our support people was on vacation for about a week (which will also be the case around the holidays). They are in the process of calling people back after messages have been left.
Your particular issue (DSD over UPnP) has been forwarded to the developer working on the streamer. We don’t currently own a copy of JPlay (this is my first time hearing of it but it looks quite good), so they may need to look into that for testing.
Any time line for the Associated user’s manual with explanation of each piece of functionality? Or is the AI the “manual” for the PMG series?
I’ve had no problems. My only source is streaming via a Roon Nucleus to the PMG DAC. No problems after about a month — except those caused by my user errors (not many).
Never mind. I found it where it’s supposed to be. ![]()
Chris,
Thanks for the response.
I spoke to Delia on 11/5/25 about my problem, though at the time I hadn’t determined that the issue was solely with DSF files. She told me she was going to get a copy of JPlay and use it (it’s just a control app, albeit a nice one) to do some testing. After I’d found that the issue was with DSF files, I opened a topic on 11/9/25, PMG signature 512 streamer BUG with DSD, and left voicemail with Delia on 11/11/25 referring to this topic. I left another two voicemails, not realizing Delia was on vacation (her voicemail message didn’t say that), the last of which asked for a call back. Taylor called on 11/18/25 saying that Delia had asked him to call. I called back and spoke to him, but he wasn’t aware of the problem I’d been having, so I described it briefly and told him I’d opened a topic regarding the issue.
Other than with you and those contacts with PS Audio and a lot of thread conversations with forum members about the bug, I’ve received no feedback. Now I’ve learned from you that you’ve just forwarded my problem to the developers.
I understand that you’re busy and have a small staff, but I’m not sure what I should have done differently.
While Paul added the AI assistant to the website to answer simple questions, trained by his books and youtube videos, we’re still a small team in Boulder, CO designing, building and servicing customers.
Sometimes, documentation is a little behind and I will chat with my colleague about updating the manual to touch on this filter button functionality.
It was not just forwarded. It was forwarded earlier (based on your previous discussion). I just saw your post and wanted to confirm that it will be looked at.
However, with software development, this can be a little opaque as they may have other items in the queue and need to duplicate/test a given issue, work on a fix, schedule it into the next point release etc. and these things can take a bit of time.
Chris,
It is remarkable to have you participating so we can get direct info. Paul chimes in when he is able, I know, but having another PS Audio Rep responding is really helpful and will likely quell some of the anxiety about some of the problems reported. Thanks for being available to do this.
I will try to do more. This is a great community and having a direct relationship with the company and customers and fellow hifi enthusiasts is what it’s all about
… have installed update but still facing some of the same issues, most notably the USB (my streamer) input loses sample Rate Display if switching between inputs have to power down and power up from back to get it back, and only stays if I don’t switch - this is only for the USB input so far as I know
anyone else seeing this?
Take a look at this thread about firmware and what worked for some. I’d recommend factory reset after firmware update like jaycee did. Hope it works for you.
Mahalo - good idea - will do the factory reset now.
@Chris_Brunhaver i understand completely. I have a coaster which says “I seriously need a speed bump between my brain and mouth “ . Fits this conversation perfectly. Thank you for upping your presence.
I’ve had the PMG for over 3 weeks and have had good luck all in all with mine. Biggest issue I had was when I updated the streamer software several days ago and started getting clicks and pops in both speakers. Cycled the power, reset the router and switch and have been good to go since. I use Roon with either the built in streamer or USB and it will run for days without issue.
Chris,
I heartily apologize for letting my frustration seep out—well, maybe more than seep—and allowing my lizard brain to hold sway when you were obviously just helping. I really do appreciate your efforts here.
Thanks, again.

Thanks! I think that’s good advice. I will have a toast in your honor!
