It’s nice to hear someone actually addressing how the Airlens sounds. Happy to hear that you like it. Don’t have one. I come from the Eversolo camp myself but nice to hear your take on it nonetheless.
Thank you for the greater detail.
Being a non Roon Qobuz user having a nice built in server was important to me. But, now that I own my MKll DAC and the increasing talk of Qobuz Connect actually coming to be I can finally see the argument for having a Airlens in the chain.
Do we know anything about how Qobuz Connect will be better (or at least different) than streaming Qobuz through mConnect to the AirLens, which is what I do now?
All I can assume is the it would be like the Qobuz app that I see on my iPad. There are a few little features that are available there that aren’t on the app that Eversolo provides. Features like the high res tags attached to album art or the radio feature that comes on after the last song of an album. If it would do that while not negatively affecting the sound somehow it would be worth switching from the Eversolo app for me.
Fellow AirLens pilots:
What is the current firmware? (4.3.95?)
TIA.
4.3.95 is what Mconnect shows me and I haven’t seen any announcements since I installed that version.
Thank you.

Who has absorption feet under the Airlens and if so, can you hear the difference and what brand you have ?
Hello! Have you compared n200 to AL?
@Bhorvers I have Herbies Tenderfeet under my Airlens. I noticed a nice increase in clarity and focus as a result…
I have 3 IsoAcoustic Orea Bronze under my AirLens. It does make a small difference in focus and low-end definition, but not nearly as much as the Orea’s I have under the DSS 1 (modified).
Got mine few hours ago, connected to DS mk2 via AQ vodka. So cable and AL is “cold” as ice )
I have 3 days to compare and decide keep or send back… will it change SQ during these days? …
DS mk2 and PP15 took 2 weeks to settle down…
The AirLens, like the other PSA components I own, took a long time to achieve its full potential. I would say that after three days (assuming you play it a lot) you will have something much closer to the final sound than what you start out with, but the unit will not be done settling in. Whether you feel comfortable keeping it at that point is something only you can decide. I have also owned a couple of AQ interconnects, and they took quite a while to break in. It’s a pity that you have such a short time to make a decision.
A question, re: AL + DS DAC… I will say I have thoroughly enjoyed the general sonic improvements on my system, and look to get a bit more when upgrading to MK2 later this year… well anyway into the meat, during setup i ‘enabled’ volume control through the AL which has been my preference, love being able to do volume control through Roon, however i noticed that when i enabled volume control via AL, i could not play DSD files in thier native bitperfect way. Roon would scale up/convert over to PCM ‘volume controllable’ signal data. and then volume scale down datastream over to the dac.
The question is, would there be a way possibly in the future, for the AL with ‘volume control enabled’ to actually send an instruction(volume level X) over the I2S band, and actually tell the DAC in the directstream, to set the volume level. even if playback was interrupted this seems to me like it would be a much better implementation solution of a version of volume control from the device vs scaling the actual audio signal and then passing it down the device chain… again just a question, but curious what others thoughts on something like this would be? kind of root’s back to the fact that once you are on roon and could have the ability to volume control from the app, its difficult to ever go back to a remote imo…
I also found the AirLens improved over time but by day 3 I suspect you should hear enough to know if it bests your older set up.
At the end of day 1 for me I felt the stereo had improved lots, instruments and vocals were more rounded and together in my set up.
At the end of day 2, I found the biggest change was the music having greater presence, you could feel the vibrations as well as the sound.
At the end of day 3 I wrote - Omg the snare drums on David Elias and the CasualTees, you never know, you can hear the whack of the drums and the decay of the impact like never before
Enjoy the trial!
looking for AQ blizzard to Zavfino prima mk2 to AL, may be someone had experience…
another AQ and Zavfino and PS Audio cables are also interesting…
Airlens is keeper!
That did not take too long.
Congrats.
yes, I’ve connected (AL & n200) to DS mk2 and switch inputs by remote on same tracks same timing. There are almost no difference at all, vocals on n200 is little bit brighter and bass by AL is more pronounced and mighty. I can say AL is little bit darker. But…I can’t say what is that…may be it’s i2s connection or USB cable… too many variables.
