I did the same thing and I agree with what you say
Very bad experience with Don-Audio purchasing the Inakustic cable.
It turns out they haven’t yet shipped the goods and FedEx scheduled delivery for 17th August. I ordered it on the 05th paying for 2 fdays delivery.
I found the PoE switch a waste of time, didn’t work (not enough power), so use the Ubiquiti PoE power injectors.
For some reason if you buy the 3-pack of APs the PoE are not included, but if you buy single units they are included and it works out cheaper. They are only about £10 each, it is annoying that different AP’s require different voltage.
I’m not that fussed about most things, comme ci comme ça, but have become fanatical about not seeing wires or, better still, not having wires at all.
My wife did ask me to get rid of the speaker cables. I didn’t try to explain.
French being her first language, when she starts speaking to me in it I know I’m in trouble.
Steven, could you elaborate please?
Mine was ordered before you. I suppose to get it today, but last time I checked the tracking it is still in Germany.
There was a major Ransomware hit in January, second time it had hit, that basically password protected every file on your QNAP. There was a recovery process, but it could take days. As my data was backed up, I just wiped the whole thing and reinstalled, which is not that difficult. I seem to remember having to take out the SSDs and cleaning/reformatting them using my MacBook, which was a pain as the discs are screwed into their cradles with little screws and it took about an hour to do that bit.
Luca, let me know if you want me to give Don Audio a local phone call re delivery. Here in NRW, the kids go back to school tomorrow. So there is no usual Summer holiday excuse anymore. I am irritated with a dealer in Berlin, who sold me an item that he does not even have… as it turns out. Just got a notice that he is expecting delivery to him in the next 3-5 days. But it is US stuff for $300 cheaper than it is in the US, even after the 19% sales tax here. Everyone else this week shipped to me faster than planned. Two items overnight from Bavaria. Actually had to ask DHL to push them back to Thursday as I had a in-real-office day today. Very bizarre.
I will be attending an Inakustik webinar tomorrow on “Mythos High End HiFi Kabel”. If anyone can do auf Deutsch, the link is : www.in-akustik.de/de/webinare/
Their air cables look like a lot of fun. They even have little bridges to keep them off the floor. @stevensegal 's SWMBO might even like them!
Very kind of you, after a few emails with Aaron finally FedEx picked up today the goods and gave me the tracking numbers. Scheduled delivery 17th Aug. I paid extra cost for fast delivery, I cannot imagine if I went with standard! Quiet disappointed.
Let’s see what happen!
Thank you.
At least you’re in Europe. I did not request international two days because it will be the same cost as the cable. But I picked 5 to 8 days and today is the 7th day. You will get it before me for sure.
They are shipping from Inakustik factory I would assume. All my purchases did just that though resellers lead you to believe cables are on hand.
Thank you Vmax, it is reasonable a delay if the manufacturer has to provide the product to a dealer.
I consider incorrect a web seller when:
- on his site shows a product “in stock” (and is not true)
- lets the customer select a shipment, which courier and delivery time, for instance 24-48 hours, at a different cost (and the delivery takes 7 days)
- (the worst) the customer support does not say “sorry” and refuses to refund back the sum of the shipment chosen/paid/unrealized. Or at best a discount on possible future orders.
Disappointed. Just to speak clearly be aware folks if you are thinking to buy from don-audio.
All at once a new toy arrived (ZENith MK 3) and all the clouds vanished, being busy to install and listen to it. Life is too short to be uselessly angry for more than 5 minutes, isn’t it?
This was the first time I ordered from don-audio, and probably will be the last time. Too bad we even have the same first name
Welcome to typical German customer service when the price is right!
Not only a single country bad habit, unfortunately!
Many thanks for posting that. Was not aware of the cheaper one. Will be ordering one (currently out of stock).
What’s the general consensus about the better input OF THE AirLens? USB vs Ethernet.
I’m intrigued with the PhoenixUSB to be used now from the Innuos ZENith to the Matrix but I’m wondering if in future this will be a limitation or not. In case the ethernet is preferable from the ZENith to the AirLens.
I don’t believe it will have USB input. I think the only input is ethernet and wifi.
That’s my understanding too - we’ve only been told about ethernet or wifi in only.
@Paul, just checking, will the AirLens be able to receive audio via bluetooth?
It seems then that the PhoenixUSB has no sense, like any other reclocker/coverter/isolator using USB connection between the server and the AirLens streamer.
The AirLens will be connected to the network via ethernet (or WiFi) and for Innuos owners, in my case ZENith MK 3, who has a specific ethernet output, directly to the server bypassing also a switch.
So it will be possible streaming music from the AirLens using both Roon and Innuos App Sense.
@jamesh and @Paul if September is still the estimated launch of the product it would be so appreciated having some more definitive specs about it, we are so close and we do not want fall in wrong decisions about gears/software/tweaks we are now purchasing aimed to dialog in near future with AirLens. Don’t want to do pressure, just avoid wasting time and money. Thank you so much.
