PS Audio AirLens

The releases after Horizon would be Sunrise. Then followed by those named after the types of solar eclipse. The final named after three types of sunset.

If the run of firmware tweaks is long enough, could add in some phase of the :crescent_moon:

Please don’t forget us, your foreign customers outside US… we often fall unlucky when promotions are occurring, we are DS owners too and nevertheless we continue buying PSA products.

Thanks.

Hi Luca,
I live in Italy and unfortunately the Italian prices are almost double those in the United States. I have a really excellent Directstream DAC which costs € 8500. I also have an old P3 power plant which does its duty very well. I have been in the forum for 2 years. cheers

Be careful calling this a renderer. The word “renderer” has specific meaning to a UPnP/DLNA network. That specific meaning assumes specific support for UPnP/DLNA as a renderer and, in some configurations, a renderer isn’t required to be bit-perfect. It’s great if you’re building just a renderer but you are not?

This is why I like using the more ambiguous / generic terms of “streamer” or “digital transport”. A digital transport that supports DLNA is a renderer only in that mode. A digital transport that supports Roon Bridge is a Roon Audio Device (also referred to as an endpoint, also referred to as an Audio Zone). In fact, Roon enthusiastically does not support UPnP/DLNA renderers (they have written about this many times).

Very few words, that could be used for what the AirLens does, actually have real technical meaning. That’s fine, because these devices are constantly evolving and it would be expected features are added over time, but “renderer” certainly does have a technical meaning. And, some of us, have no need for a “renderer”. But we use streamers / digital transports every day.

“Digital Transport” works. “Streamer” has a lot of context in the market regarding functionality and often OEM apps that are not part of the AirLens. Best to avoid confusion that would lead to disappointment at a lack of features.

I hope you did not pay premium prices for AQ Dragon; they are outrageously priced for cables.

Nope. They have a factory in The Netherlands so a total different distribution that helps (a lot) to reduce prices, if you have a trusted dealer to work with.
PSA has just one importer and taxes and second dealers in the chain that make prices growing and growing, sometimes a bit less than double than US. Our loyalty to this brand I hope someone in Boulder will consider one of these days. To whom it may concern…

That is good news you don’t pay for markup after AQ markup.

My daughter and son-in-law have just left for their Napa trip, so I have a few days to relax until they come back on Monday. My wife let them take the nice car too.

Crank up the volume (again) guy! Enjoy!

Time to pull out some 45 rpm’s and rediscover what real music should really sound like.

I sold my LP collection and the entire analog setup years ago to make my wife happy. I am allowed only digital now. She really likes streaming because a couple of SSDs contained all the CDs that are stored in garage now.

The fools among us may deride you for your actions.

The wise, however, understand: “It’s all foreplay.”

Looks like you’ve gone over the deep end of no returns for your LP’s. That’s OK, streaming can just as satisfying, and the rabbit hole has much more for you to explore.

Many thanks Paul. That would be great. Really looking forward to hearing what you find out on MQA.

I think the MQA unfolding, if it goes up to 352 will be quite an asset for the AirLens, as the extra resolution is already there in the MQA file but is held back to 192 via the Bridge.

I expect one of the first things I listen to in the >192k category will be a MQA 352k recording, given everything else will have to be purchased!

I read that MQA adoption is falling rapidly. I just tried to find the article and now I can’t.

Roon only partially unpacks MQA, so I avoided Tidal. Also, I would think that more processing = more noise. MQA isn’t a clear plus for the end user.

I don’t know anyone who uses MQA, though a few friends systems have the capability…

So did I.
