PWT Connectivity

Hi Dave - thanx for the response

I did get it working with a wired connection - once I upgraded the firmware. My problem might be as simple as not knowing how to configure my vonet ethernet bridge as I get the r/w error (in red on the banner) when downloading the play list and album cover.

Thanx again

Is The PWT Supposed to show offline always from the control Tab on The website? or is there some function it is supposed to have?

No, if the PWT is online it should show that - at least that’s how I remember it.

My PWT is registered and has always said Offline under My PS > Control. I have assumed that is because there are no “control” functions available like there are for the P5 and P10. If there were, I would expect them to be Play/Stop/Change Track etc…

It does, however, show discs that I play under Playlist, and I have been able to update the Track list and cover art under Playlist for CDs that are not in the database. I use a hard wired Ethernet connection and have a 2Gb SD card in the PWT.

The only time I have a problem is when a cover art file is corrupt, perhaps from an incomplete download from the PSA server. Then the PWT will get stuck trying to load the corrupt cover art file to the display. Removing the SD card from the PWT, deleting the corrupt cover art file, and putting it back in the PWT, or getting the PWT to re-down load the cover art file fixes that problem.

I also have a problem where if I leave a CD in the PWT for an extended time without being played (CD finishes playing or I press Stop), the touch screen on the PWT will not respond and I cannot get the CD to Play or even Eject. This can happen whether the player is left on or is put into standby with the front power switch.

The only way to clear this is to do a hard reset with the power switch on the back to reboot. This is not a problem that I have seen discussed on any of the forums and is my only complaint about the PWT (other than no remote control app). If this is not normal, then perhaps I will try a firmware downgrade and then upgrade back to the latest version.

An update to my story - hardwired the PWT to my network. Display says internet ok and memory OK. Went to play a CD and it returned nothing just the big track number display. Went and signed in to my PS Audio and the album art and track list for the new CD was there - just didn’t download. Stayed signed in and tried with another CD and low and behold it downloaded both the art and track info no problem.

So it appears (at least in my case) that you have to be signed into MY PSAudio for any download to occur? Seems strange - can anyone confirm that?

Also I found that by pressing play before all the downloading and reading etc is done will prohibit the download from completing and you will be left with just the big track number

Can anyone else confirm or deny what I am experiencing?

Thanx Again

As long as the PWT is registered to you, it should not be necessary for you to be logged in to ‘My_PS’ to get track info and cover art.

Also, you should be able to get coverart and track info even if you press play before it all downloads.

The PWT is fairly sensitive to communication problems between the box and the server. It does not try twice if a communication error occurs. I think the most likely explanation for your experience is that you are getting some communication errors that prevent cover art from displaying. The fact that it works one time and not the other is just statistics.

We are working to improve the communication reliability.

Thanx for the response - I can only report on what I see - and in every instance that I was logged in to My PSAudio I was able to retrieve the art and songlist - and wasn’t when not logged in.

Hopefully the communications reliability fix is achieved through a firmware upgrade - not a new model

Thanx
