Review of Aspen FR30's, CONGRATS!

bravo

Any more discussion about offering more colors?

None whatsoever :frowning: It was suggested using a vinyl wrap but I’m ok with my FR20 in black (technically Sable Black).

What color/finish would you like to see?

Well, I don’t see us doing another color for some time, as it we need to make a lifetime commitment to around 300 units of each color and another 30% more inventory this would represent more than we can support in the near term.

I said that about two years ago. Like I said directly above, I’m ok with black. Trying to get a relatively small customer base to agree on one more color would most likely be an exercise in frustration.

A walnut / mahogany color would be nice but basic black and white are probably most marketable and flexible for placement in various rooms.

I could not wait for a Bird-eye Maple FR-30 anymore, I finally accepted the white. Now they look pretty nice in my room. :man_dancing:

I’m not sure the sleek modern look of the Aspen line would look as good in a wood grain finish. I’d have to see one to tell for sure though.

Yeah, I think the Aspens kind of need a beautiful automotive type finish.

I have both the FR 30s and 20s in two different residences. The 30s are in a much larger room and are pulled out from the back wall. I’ve had these going on two years. Very interesting that in the last two weeks I decided to move them, each time 2-3 inches closer. After the second move they brought the imaging to a stellar level. I hear this on good recordings and on poorer
recordings. The FR 20s are in a smaller room, and are closer to the back wall than I have the FR 30s. Given this position I do not notice or miss the lack of the rear firing speaker that is present in the FR 30s . In my Florida apt I recently took delivery on a pair of FR 10s. However
they were delivered the day before I had to return to NYC so they are not burned in and are
not ready for public display. I will report on these after my next Florida trip.

White is the new silver.

By ā€œstellar levelā€, do you mean on an astronomic scale, or more modestly priced?

Here’s a cool version from the ā€œOctave Records Tour Part Oneā€ video. Original FR-20 White with MDF front, raw wood on the sides.

Yup. this was our first pair of samples that we did the crossover design work with. These lived in Darren Meyer’s house for quote a while after that until he left PS and then Paul brought them to octave.
