What a shame, but what a career! He, along with Hal David, composed some unforgettable songs!
How many people who grew up with and instantly recognize popular tunes they love know Burt wrote them? Such a loss. I found out about Burt’s passing this morning on the WFMT 9 AM news summary.
On the news, I revisited his work with Elvis Costello. Two artists I like very much. RIP, Legend.

Someone on another forum shared Always Something There To Remind Me. Not written for Naked Eyes but certainly popularized by the band.
This was so fun for the 80s kid inside me. Didn’t know it was previously better by Dionne Warwick or Sandie Shaw in the 60s and 70s!
There’s also a good version by R. B. Greaves recorded in 1969 and released in early 1970. This version seems to reflect Bachrach-David’s style more to me than Naked Eyes.
My cousin and his wife are on Broadway, and I recall taking my mom to see Nikki (supporting actress in the play) do “Promises, Promises”. That will always be my best Burt Bacharach memory.
