You could add a feature request to Roon’s forum page. Maybe they will add it?
Oh I have, several times, as have numerous others. To date, nothing.
Yes. When your $700 software has worse playlist functionality than the free iTunes, there is neglect afoot.
Yes I’m sure like other request, Roon has to determine the priority of it. Maybe one day if they get enough requests they will do this.
If playlist functionality is your must have item/feature, sounds like iTunes might be the way to go. And it’s free.
Unfortunately, playlists are the only thing iTunes does better
MusicIP still is available to generate playlists of you local content. It’s worth playing with…
Here is the latest on updated MK 1.8 (change log):
It looks like some of the recent laments about 1.8 have been addressed.
FYI.
indeed they have. Now, they are already at build 764. Working fast to solve those bugs and complaints. 763 has been a real upgrade, in features and reliability.
The longer I have Roon installed and the more I use it, the more pleased I am with myself for pulling the trigger on the lifetime subscription:
FYI/FWIW.
Roon keeps threatening to dump the lifetime subscription option. I’m at 63 months now. All house money at this point.
I think I’m ‘paid for’ too. Lifetime since 2017. I’ve learned to accept it’s warts and some of their stubborn decisions and use it for what it is.
I like the new daily playlists and the improved search.
I have not played with the search yet, but I do like the daily playlist feature. Neat idea…

They’re certainly working hard to make it less appealing economically.
Seven years is definitely a greater amount of time to recoup your costs, especially with inflation in play. I only use Roon part time these days. I’ve shifted to Aurender server/players for my primary device. Just ordered a second one for my office system. Aurender’s Conductor app isn’t as fancy as Roon’s UI, but the SQ is better with my gear.
I’ve been lifetime since November 2018. I guess I’m doing okay but I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with the audio.
Just a heads up for those who don’t have Roon. They are having a sale of $1 for 3 month subscription. Good to test for sure. I use Mconnect for my Tidal streams and JRiver for my local FLAC files. Roon is sure convenient and very polished.
Cheers.
I found it interesting that the pitch made to me, who had gone through a similar 90-day trial last year and didn’t sign on at the end, was that significant improvements had been made since I was last a “member,” and that all I needed to do to sign on for this latest trial was to log in under my old account. So apparently it isn’t intended just for brand new users.
