Roon 2.0 Released

matrix sdif
usb to i2s

your setup should work. I am just not a fan of having to use a computer as the interface. Especially with roon as the software. no need. you could actually use the Mac Mini w/o roon as well. For me its Roon with a streamer (check out other threads for thousands of posts on that subject) and tablet with Roon remote.

@lufubu - Is your intention to run Roon Bridge on the mini? If so, what you’ve outlined will work.

Roon is working, no problem working. I’m using two heads on Roon’s recommendation.
The computer on which Rock works is the 6th generation i7, and the mac mini has an m1 processor. I’m trying to find the best solution. Should it stay that way or should the server be moved to mac mini?

I am not familiar with all of the Matrix products. Is your Matrix a DDC or does it also have networking and act as a bridge. I know you answered Brian up above, but due to my lack of familiarity, I didn’t understand your answer.

I have two ideas for you, but would like to know about the Matrix first.

Also, is that DS a MK1 or MK2?

Matrix sdif is the usb to i2s converter most of us use and it’s irrelevant.
I was wondering, will the roon give better results with the 6th generation i7 rock+mac mini or just a mac mini with m1 processor?

Unless you are running DSP on your Roon, I don’t think you’ll notice much difference in performance. When I start out with a new build I generally overbuild/spec so that it’s going to last longer in my system. I like to leave plenty of headroom for the inevitable creep of memory and CPU utilization that comes with each software update.

If that’s a MK1 in your drawing, and you leave the Matrix in place, you can move your Core to where the Mac Mini is located. You don’t really need the Mini acting as an endpoint with the Matrix isolating the noisy computer from your DAC.

The only caveat for me would be making sure that whatever you put before the Matrix that it’s quiet.

The crosstalk feature is pretty nice, the rest I don’t see myself using.

Oh I love free enhancements, firmware, et al.
A big thank you to ROON.

My DS Sr./Bridge II suddenly became unreconized (“decertified”) by Roon:

This just popped up today. Anyone else have this experience/know how to reconnect with the Bridge
?

Uh oh!

Rebooted the DAC and now I can enable the Bridge II.

Weird:

I just did an Update all Roon update. Couldn’t wait. I think the previous version was troublesome. Just annoying from time to time. I hope that takes a rest with the latest update.

It looks like it’s mostly adding KKBOX functionality.

  1. Introduced KKBOX integration in Roon
  2. Fixed an issue with the Roon Home → Recent Listening widget displaying 0 minutes
  3. Fixed a potential crash in ARC when connecting certain USB DACs

When I stream the Qobuz web player app in my car, I assume Roon is not involved in any way of form. Am I correct?
I set up a playlist (while driving) and later noticed that it shows up in ROON. I have no idea what is going on.

Qobuz app is untethered from Roon.

But roon connects to your Qobuz account, so changes made in Qobuz will show up in Roon.

if you favorite an album in Qobuz (basically adding it to your library), Roon will see it and it will show up in your roon library, too.

^^Exactly!!!

And if you are browsing Amazon when you favorite a track on Qobuz, Amazon will instantly recommend you buy that album in all formats.

(Amazon sees you when your sleeping, it knows when your awake, it knows when you’ve been bad or good so be good for goodness sake)
