I wonder if anybody has encountered the same problem with the Sprout. Mine doesn’t play 176khz/24 bit Flac files played from my modified Squeezebox Touch. My Metrum Hex doesn’t have any problems playing the same files via S/PDIF input
Yes, this is a known limitation in the Sprout input receiver. 176/24 will work with USB and not with S/PDIF. It’s a limitation with the Wolfson we chose. That was a tough decision because the DAC chip sounds so good… we figured most people would use USB for high rez.
