Send Personal Message to a Member

New user and wondered how to send a personal message to a member (DM)?

Click on the user name and then on the box that says ā€œmessageā€.

I upgraded your credentials so that the message box should appear.

Thanks much!

Did it work?

Greetings, also a new member with same PM issue as I do not see the ā€œmessageā€ box option when I click on a user’s name. Any help would be appreciated.

You should be set to go.

Hello. Was trying to send a PM and don’t have the option either. Thanks

Hello. I am a new member but do not have the option to send PM. Please help. Thank you.

Welcome aboard!

What Gemini has to say. @Elk will likely chime in if this is incorrect.

To send a private message (PM) on the PS Audio community forum, you typically need to reach Trust Level 1 (Basic).

The PS Audio forum is built on the Discourse platform, which uses an automated trust system to prevent spam. While specific thresholds can be adjusted by administrators, the standard requirements to reach Level 1 and unlock PM capabilities (known as ā€œConversationsā€ on the site) are:

Standard Requirements for Trust Level 1

  • Entering at least 5 topics.

  • Reading at least 30 posts.

  • Spending a total of 10 minutes reading on the forum.

Tips for New Members

  • Engagement is Key: You don’t necessarily have to post 100 times, but the system needs to see that you are a human ā€œconsumingā€ content before it trusts you to message others privately.

  • Check Your Status: You can often see your current trust level or ā€œBadgesā€ in your profile settings. Once you earn the ā€œBasicā€ badge, the ā€œMessageā€ button should appear when you click on another user’s profile.

  • Technical Issues: There have been reported instances where the automated system hangs. If you have spent significant time on the site and still cannot send a PM, it is common practice to tag a moderator (like @Elk) in a public thread to request a manual upgrade.

This is a lot to ask, lol.
