Mine are made with Acacia Butcher Block and repurposed Pangea Vulcan posts
Welcome aboard!
I rearranged the Pangea racks I’m using but I can see where I’d go next. Nicely done!
I don’t see a rack here. I only see two 1950’s robots that will kill me in my sleep.
But really, a nice setup and easy on the eyes room treatments.
I like Maple. We made mine here in Colorado. 2 inch slab on top. Used off the shelf stereo rack bracing and sub feet for bottom. Solid. Im sure Mapleshade makes some great stuff as well. Ill never need another rack.
Thank you very much allan.thunes.
Funny thing. It was the way your picture showed the Pangea racks side by side (and the one a little bit after your post showing three Pangea racks) that gave me the idea to use Pangea posts as supports. I bought two racks open box(one of which was a double stacked record one) and I think I needed 4 extra 8.75 inch posts which you can buy from Audio Advisor also open box(sometimes).
I got 7 slabs of acacia butcher block countertops and had them cut down to 63”x20”. Then finished them with satin finish, water base Polyurethane(got a spare one in case I messed up).
All of that was enough for 2 racks.
So really, it was a combination of the really nice rack that I first referenced and your set up that served as inspiration.
By the way I wanted to use either Maple or Hevea(the one that Pangea calls Parawood), but I got the Acacia counter slabs (25.5”x74”) for $96/slab at a liquidation place in Central Florida and well that was a lot cheaper…
