I finally had the opportunity to acquire NOS Siemens 6922 e88cc tubes for my BHK250 at a reasonable price from Parts Connexion. Even without any break in I am very happy with the performance. They are very quiet have great depth presentation and silky detailed highs. Anyone else still enjoying thier 250 should consider trying them. At my time of purchase they had 5. I bought a matched pair so as of today 3/19/2026 they still have 3 left. With shipping the cost me $191 to many I have seen selling for $500 for a pair thus is a bargain.
Although I never used them in the specific application you mention, I was never disappointed with Siemens tubes used in two different Conrad Johnson preamps and as the input tube for one of their amps (Premier 140). If you can find them āreasonablyā priced they are most definitely worth it IMO.
EDIT: you can sometimes find Siemens manufactured tubes rebranded by other tube companies such as RCA and Telefunken.
Did they match the pair? Didnāt see that option on their site.
Yes he did. I requested it when I placed the order.
Thanks for the heads up, I grabbed the last matched pair of Siemens 6922 tubes they had on sale!
Glad you got them. I am loving mine and the price was great!
Just received my NOS SIEMENS 6922ās and Iām definitely not disappointed. Just installed them so theyāre not even warmed up yet and definitely not broken in, but Iām mighty impressed with what Iām hearing.
Detailed, impactful, dynamic, and neutral yet fleshed out, smooth and organic sounding.
I agree with your observations. Even before any break in. The music is so natural and defined without any exaggerations. I sure hope they last a long time. Money well spent. Glad you got a pair of them too.
If they last as long as a pair of NOS Amprex tubes that I purchased used, it will be money well spent, especially at the sale price, which was close to 50% off.
The used pair of NOS Amprex tubes I bought resided in a CD player I owned for years, and then later in the BHK amp, I probably put 5,000 or more hours on them myself, plus however many hours they had on them when I purchased them.
When you factor in the longevity of NOS tubes, plus the improved SQ, I think theyāre a bargain.
The NOS SIEMENS 6922 continue to improve as they settle and break in.
Not sure if they compete with the Amprex Holland NOS 6922 tubes. I shall see as they continue to improve. They are however way better than the Electro Harmonix and Gold Lion 6922 tubes on every level.
I noticed that just about every tube the Parts Connexion carrys is on sale now. Worth checking out if you need tubes.
In my system these Siemens tubes are the best I have tried. I had pair of Amperex Bugle Boys they were good but not up to these. The Bugle Boys became microphonic without allot of hours on them. Glad that I got the new build Ray tubes for my BHK Preamp they sound great and are readily available.
Okay, with more break-in on the Siemens 6922 tubes Iām totally over the top about how they sound. The best my BHK 250 has ever sounded.
Itās like my amp discovered the fountain of youth. The music is so much more energized and dynamic, along with new insights into the the fabric and texture of the music.
Itās a shame weāve lost the ability to manufacture tubes of this quality.
This is exactly what I am hearing from my BHK 250 too. I could not be happier.
I foresee an issue down the road. Iāll never be able go back to a lesser tube for my BHK 250, and after searching for a back up pair, Iām realizing just how luck I was to get this pair, because they are becoming extremely rare.
That would be the same concern for me. That is the drawback of an exceptional NOS tube. We are lucky we got these for sure. Once you have heard how good they are you never want to give that up.
I found a few matched pairs of NOS 6922 SIEMENS for between $500 to $600 a pair. Other than that, all the other ones were used pairs on EBay, which I donāt really trust.
Iām still stunned at the improvement these tubes have made, itās far from subtle. If I had to quantify the difference, iād say thereās at least a 25% improvent in the overall sound quality.
I feel like I made a component level upgrade.
The only solution down the road if Iām unable to find these tubes at a sane price will be to upgrade to a solid state amp.
The problem is you will not find any Solid state amp that will match the way our 250ās sound.
That is a concern. The way the BHK 250 sounds with these NOS SIEMENS tubes is quite special. I could happily live with this amp for the foreseeable future. Will be interesting to see how the new PMG amps stack up.
