Will the generous trade in include non US customers ?
Likely, but it is our Int distributors that dictate this. I canāt speak upon what they are able to offer.
respect is a 2-way streetā¦
if this manufacturer respected their customersā¦this wouldnāt be an issue in the 1st place!
Sony Transports anyone ?
The Denafrips fell off of a Truck somewhere in Mesa, AZ. So I picked it up and plugged it in to my Rig. You folks aināt missing much. Itās a great DAC but Tedās is smoother in the treble region. Both behave the same in the Bass/Midrange/Upper Midrange regions. No 2nd I2S input and Iām having some PCM compatibility issues on the S/PDIF (coax RCA) input to which Tedās DAC is has no issues. Weird.
Weighs a Ton !
I understand the anger side of it! Iād just concentrate on a great deal for the updated one.
Forgive me if this has been asked before, but is there an anticipated release date for the new SACD transport, and an estimated price point? Asking so I know whether to hold off on replacing my Marantz SA8005 with an SA-KI Ruby (if theyāre ever in stock again at dealers). At $4K, the Ruby is about as expensive as I can even come close to justifying.
Closer to $6K I believe.
Weāll start beta testing next month (September) and go into full production in November. We have yet to add up all the costs but the final retail will be between $6K and $7K depending on how everything adds up.
The SA-KI Ruby can be found at authorized dealers for less. Sometimes Marantz will have them on sale for $2999. I bought mine for $2250 it was a display model at Abt Electronics . Great SACD player with a fantastic drive mechanism and a good on board DAC. I sold it and replaced it with a DirectStream DAC. The DirectStream Dac is superior to the SA-KI DAC but the Rubyās quality is close considering the cost but itās not upgradable like the DirectStream so advantage PS Audio.
None of the usual suspects have them in stock, and all of them show price at list. Even Abt. Iād love to learn about any others.
I know they were limited to 1000 units in each black and champagne so maybe they are running out of supply. The SA-10 is the other option but then that is 1.5x more the price of the Ruby. MusicDirect.com is another source for Marantz new and factory refreshed. I did see them one time at accessories4less.com which is a factory authorized reseller of Marantz and other manufacturers. Good luck in your search

I actually just found a 40% off deal on an open box SA-10, but faced with the option of pulling the trigger, I couldnāt bring myself to do it. As great a deal as it is, itās still a couple hundred over the price of the Ruby, which would have been an extreme stretch in the first place. I think itās better for me to live within my means and hang on to my SA8005. Retirement is coming soon, and I should probably conserve. Coming here to PSAās site isnāt healthy for me.
It does get pricey reading some of the forums. The matrix spdif sounds like a great deal and upgrade until you throw in a power supply that cost more than the matrix spdif! Lol. I already own a oppo 203 that I bought before Oppoās unfortunate closing so I upgraded it with parts from oppomods.com including the I2S card and I send that to my DirectStream Dac. Add a quality HDMI for the I2S duty and you will have a player superior to the Ruby and possibly the SA-10!
We are a few months away from our new home construction (with a ābonus roomā above the garage, for āyou know whoāsā music room) to be completed, hope to be in the new home the beginning of 2021, removing my audio equipment from their year long āhibernationā in their factory cartons.
My DMP/DSD combination sounds awesome, the best SQ Iāve enjoyed, if the new transport sounds better, and I suspect it does, after we get settled, Iāll be reaching out to PS Audio about trading in my current unit for the new one.
As a side note, last year we visited Morocco, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia & Zimbabwe and everywhere you looked, you saw signs for Oppo cell phones for sale. I suspect the disk drive business was such a small part of the company, they just didnāt feel it was profitable enough to continue.
Oppo Digital (BluRay players) was a separate business to Oppo Electronics (mobiles), both owned by a Chinese holding company. The decision to cease production at Oppo Digital was because they saw no future in the BluRay market. The fact that they also played SACD was incidental. It had nothing to do with Oppo Electronics, which makes over 100 million mobiles annually, as the two businesses were run entirely separately.
P.S. lucky you didnāt go to Namibia, where mobiles are pretty useless.
I suspected the march of technology had something to do with Oppoās decision. With this new house construction we are ācutting the cordā, will have internet service, but no cable TV or telephone. I think we do have a BluRay player stuffed somewhere in our things, but with our streaming subscriptions, never us it anymore.
I look forward to ending my audio equipmentās āsabbaticalā in a few months!
Last time I asked someone at PS Audio, they said they had 200 extra drives. Shortly after that they stopped production. So what happened to all the extra drives?! This is terrible news.
If this in fact the correct drive for the DMP?
Paul said there was no need to worry as there was plenty to cover the DMPās in use⦠Paul said the other day that PSA are stripping out the guts of DMPās traded inā¦basically - they are fitting used, secondhand mechanismsā¦
I have no problem receiving a fully functioning used drive if mine fails down the road. But Iām still curious about what happened to all the new DMP drives that I was told would be available for future repairs. Ultimately Iām hoping there will be a generous upgrade towards the new transport, because with this new news, Iām feeling quite nervous about the future of my DMP.
