Regarding the original question, Kimber vs. Audioquest, I would rate Kimber as having better value for money.
But other mothers also have beautiful daughters.
I agree the lower level Kimber Kable offers great value in comparison to AudioQuest. Having tried Kimber 4TC and 8TC many years ago I found them to be a fine speaker cable. AQ is fine, but it is best to try each in your system and decide from there. As the Sprout is a high value device it is rather easy to exceed its value with speaker cable choices, which I would not do. Thus a suggestion for BlueJeans Cable.
Thank you for the response. I have spoken to a representative from Blue Jeans cables and I was very impressed. I will likely purchase cables from them.
Blue Jeans is a reliable supplier of cables, and I have had a very positive experience with another one of the speaker cables they carry: Canare 4S11. When I was setting up a basement 5.1 home theater a few years ago, I did my own DIY wiring using bulk 4S11. Although there are four 14-gauge wires in each cable, the wires can be combined to create two 11-gauge wires, which is what I did.
I haven’t done a lot of direct comparisons between 4S11 and other speaker cables, but the 4S11 cables in my basement system have provided delightful sound, even when used with very revealing Thiel speakers. You may want to read some of the online comments regarding the Canare 4S11 before you make a final decision to order one of the Belden cables for your Sprout.
I’ve not heard differences is cable yet so I’m not someone who can offer listening impressions. But I do rely on BJC for most of my needs because they are great to work with and offer what I perceive to be high value. The only thing I don’t like is their speaker cable sheaths. IMHO they’re not pretty to look at if that matters to you.
If you like the Canare 4S11, Benchmark Media offers Canare Star Quad with an attractive sheath and locking bananas. I could be mistaken but the descriptions read like they’re the same cable. Benchmark is about twice the cost of BJC but still reasonable.
Thank you for the info!
BAV 1310A Star Quad speaker cables would be my recommendation for the Sprout.
And the winner is/was?
Curiously yours.
1310A uses OFHC copper where 4S11 used TPC copper. Same design otherwise. Just the more expensive copper.
You can see how the different cables work in actual measurements. It is a “thing” for sure.- https://www.iconoclastcable.com/techpapers/Parallel-Bi-Wire-Effects.pdf
The differences in the MATERIAL, not the DESIGN, is a harder nut to crack. The metallurgical differences are measurable but that doesn’t change electrical measurements. So it is a try before you buy. Two identical designs with different copper; TPC, OFHC, OFE or UP OCC will all measure exactly the same R,L and C with the possible (length) exception of the DCR that is out to the third decimal point.
