Thank you Coastalcat - I dont have LAN connection, only wifi - so will your way of doing this work even though I did the Factory Reset? I actually don’t need the streaming part but do need it for the CD and phono stage. So do you mean when I reboot just go into the UI (yes agree it is shockingly bad to get into) and just turn wifi off then it will be able to operate as normal? Like prior even after my factory reset?
I’m confident that this will work, as I said I needed a few goes. I found that after using the big switch on the rear to turn off and back on - there was a short period of time where the unit is probably sorting itself out - in that brief window I was able to enter the system setting, jumping to Wi-Fi and rolling the knob to get it to “off”, double click to return to normal. Good luck, please let me know how it goes and if I can help further.
Somebody give @Coastalcat a MEDAL - his advice above works to be able to use the Stellar normally without the wifi/streaming enabled. What a champion he is!
When the patch comes hopefully we can download it and it will get the rest working but at least the other features can work for now.
Thank you “Coastalcat” your advice helped me and I hope will help others too until it is properly sorted by PS Audio.
Hi Paul, thanks for the update. I’ve posted a non-streaming workaround on this topic that may be worth a try. Another member has tried it and it worked for her. She’s now happily playing vinyl (phew!).
Thanks
Paul
So, if I turn off WiFi, will the Strata retain my network settings so that when I turn WiFi back on I can connect to my network so I can download the fix? I have been assuming this is going to be delivered via an updated app (PS Connect, Wiim, etc) on my iPhone.
Thanks for this great update @Coastalcat
Provided you haven’t done a factory reset, your settings should be retained. Many will have done a factory reset, which drops everything (and turns W-Fi “on”).
However, from what I’ve seen you’ll go to blue lights flashing shortly after the box tries to connect to the network (e.g. if you turn Wi-Fi “on”). So if there’s an update I doubt we’ll be able to get it over the network (I’ve no insight on how any update will be handled).
Hope this helps
Hey Coastalcat. Thank you. Yes, that’s a great solution. Others have pulled off the unit’s top cover and disconnected the little LinkPlay module for now. My home unit did the same thing.
What a fricking nightmare. Linkplay developers without telling anyone decided to push a new release to all their clients (including us). The release fixes a whole bunch of bugs (great release) but it also is in direct conflict with our programming and … crash.
Our director is working to figure out how to make this right. The LinkPlay module inside Strata has been updated with new code and it’s probably fine, but our own code is now hammered. My guess is we’ll have to issue a download and USB stick sort of thing.
Stay tuned and again, apologies to everyone for the mess.
Good to know its being sorted out. Thanks for keeping us looped.
Thanks for the update, Paul - I admire anyone willing to rip off the top cover!
All the best
Paul
Hi Paul and thanks for update us all regarding this “Virus” …
My question is can we at least use it as by pass for home theater?
What is your recommendation about use it only as a part of home theater…When I checked in my set up, it worked as usual with no issue except the blinking of corse …

Hoorah!!
The workaround worked for me. I was able to get in to the menu and shutdown the WiFi and now am happily using my CD player. I never thought of the factory reset, so I didn’t take that step. I also have my iPhone connected via a USB cable so I can “stream” from that.
Thank you!!
Can more patiently await the permanent fix now…
Absolutely, the Coastalcat bypass method worked for me and now I can use it for USB input from the small Intel NUC Windows PC and analog input#3 from the home theater receiver.
Coastalcat’s bypass method works great IF you spend a minute or two reviewing the Strata instructions on using the Menu. Watch for the gear to appear in the User Interface, release the button and then step thru the menu. Found I had a tendency to hold it down too long initially and it would leave the menu mode and then lock up.
Currently running my Wiim Mini in through the optical input.
Hi
Meanwhile the device is now fully working after disconnect the Lan cable and set WIFI to OFF…
You should the same if you didn’t already did…
Have a nice weekend.
This is all good news - glad to hear it. I found that I was able to access my home NAS via my Google TV (using the VLC app) and an optical cable.
Took me a couple of restarts but this is the quick way to do it in the 30 seconds so you don’t have to faff with the manual & wasting those 30 seconds:
- Turn off the Strata and unplug the Ethernet cable (if you have one connected).
- Turn on the unit and quickly go into the menu by a long press on the function button
- Press the function button to get to the Network menu (6 times)
- Press the function button 2 times quickly to enter the Network menu
- Press the function button 1 time to get to Wi-Fi enable
- Turn the volume knob to change to off.
Perfect! Worked a treat.
Sure. Once you disable the streamer it works as usual. Looks like our engineering director has found a fix and we are working over the weekend to verify it.
Much appreciated, Paul!
Perhaps now we see the wisdom of separates.
Hey Paul
Thanks for that info as for now all working without LAN and WI-FI.
For me it’s no big deal since my Strata is for music directly via USB from my IMac which is my ROON CORE with HUGE library to choose from…I also use it as PRE to my YAMAHA A8A for my Home theater for the main speakers…
Despite it all, PS Audio will always in my heart…
