If you are thinking of treating yourself to a little something after the holidays, consider a good power supply on your router. The iFi Elite 12v supply is a nice, reasonably priced, solution.
After much wrangling with the non standard power connection on my router, I was able get the iFi connected. It’s a bump in the direction of a little more quiet and a little less grunge. Other quality Ethernet filters and switches will give you more but at a considerably higher price.
$239 bucks on Amazon. Happy Holidays!
Back when I was using Euphony Summus 2 streamer, I was told to use this one instead of a number of LPS that costed four times more:
I have been using it to power the Orbi Satellite for a few years, and it replaced a pricier LPS too.
The bad news? It does not come with a power cord, and unfortunately the power cord is as important as the PS itself. So, if you have a spared good PC you should use it.
I just so happen to have a spared AQ Dragon Source, and it made so much more improvement but I am not suggesting you do the same.![]()
I have a RBR860 with a satellite→ethernet →Innuos zenith mkIII. With an upgraded P/S to the router and satellite make a noticeable difference repeatedly?
Is this a question or statement? In my Orbi Mesh setup, the satellite (downstairs) is connected to the modem/router (upstairs) by WIFI, and the satellite is connected to the system by ethernet. I can hear the improvement using better PS/PC at the satellite end, but not much at the router end. If there was any slight difference at the router, it is insignificant compares to the satellite side.
I don’t understand the science, but I noticed an improvement in sound when I installed a lithium battery backup on my router. I installed another similar ups on the fiber modem as well.
At that price, it is way more expensive than the device I am using, lol.
That will not be the first time this has happened. ![]()
I do have a $4k interconnect attached to a $1.1k 4k blu-ray machine, lol
I also have the Orbi mesh system with a satellite hardwired to my streamer. If you had to choose between the iFi iPower Elite at $239/$299 or the LHY Audio LPS50VA at $298 to power the Orbi sat which would it be? Advanced SMPS vs an LPS.
Tough question. I really like products from LHY Audio. They offer excellent performance at great values. I am more familiar with their network switches but have never tried their LPS. So, I have no idea which one will outperform in your system.
In terms of their switches, I have used SW-8, SW-6, SW-10, and now SW-10Pro. Each one offers improvement but the level of improvement is in the order I have listed from left to right, and SW-10 Pro being the best.
It’s a question. I meant to type “will” . Fat fingers strike again!
I’ll start at the satellite. Thanks kindly.
