Strictly Jazz Sounds (Part 1)

That’s the frammis version, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person, cool.

Good job on the vinyl, the reviewer says it sounds better than the cd version. I was listening to a 24/96 tidal stream which sounds great. Interesting music, I hear a lot of blues in his stuff, kind of languid, evenly paced. I’ve never heard him as a leader before. Certainly not pushing any sonic or technical boundaries.

Leans toward mellow. Great trumpet tone. Strong backing with Bill Frisell, and Jason Moran. My understanding is Ron is based in the Denver area. Good candidate for Octave recordings had Blue Note not signed him.

“I Am a Man” is very good.

Thank you, I will check it out.

Still a rather introspective performance, but offering somewhat more fire on Darken My Door and The Gift That Keeps On Giving. Mother Juggler plays with harmonies and layering. This makes for a good late night listening experience. I do like it more than Rainbow Sign.

Streaming from tidal as I seem to have misplaced my vinyl copy. Side b is the best.

Stumbled across this Hard Bop Classic in my collection. I totally forgot I had the SACD version. No introduction necessary.

After listening to the Carole Nelson Trio and researching the group, a recommended piano trio listen BTW, I came across this. A totally different sound. Swiss Jazz avant-garde with rock skonk sensibilities. Effectively challenging one’s notions of jazz. Reminds me of early I.C.P. experiments of the 60’s.

All About Jazz Review:

I’ll be listening to this again. A great challenge for one’s stereo system dynamics across the frequency spectrum.

Continuing in an experimental direction with The End, Allt Ar Intet, featuring Mats Gustafsson:

Third time listening to the new Maria Schneider Orchestra album Not taking to it the way I did to some of her earlier efforts. Trying to connect the music to stated purpose of the album - how technology is taking over our lives and our passions. Ambitious project.
