With Manfred’s aging I have noticed a shift in their focus, both musically and technically.
That said, it is nice to have access to the ecm catalog on Qobuz or Tidal.

Chicago native Philip Cohran, a one time trumpeter wit the Sun Ra Arkestra in the late 1950’s and early 60’s prior to Sun Ra’s departure for new York City, The Minstrel on side A1 of the double LP set The Artistic Heritage Ensemble. A rather joyous and tuneful performance.

Listening to Composition No. 414, a nonet.

The ‘Zim’ compositions are fascinating and beautiful and very listenable.

This monster collection received a number of ‘Best of the Year’ awards, and I agree.

I’m delighted that it is available to stream, because I don’t have a blu-ray player.

They are indeed special, and worth the Blu-Ray investment, or at least purchasing the download.

A personal Booker Ervin favorite of mine. Thanks for the reminder, as there isn’t enough Booker played in this home lately.

Acoustic Sound Prestige series lp…they also did the Song Book. Both sound tons better than my old originals.

For some reason they DID NOT do the the Space Book or the Blues Book :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Yes, IIRC I have the original book series and then picked up the Booker Ervin series that was available from Acoustic Sounds. I have always and continue to enjoy Booker Ervin, Sonny Stitt, and Joe Henderson even if I must plow through mediocre recordings issued in the mid=70’s.

Dave Rempis – alto/tenor saxophone
Elisabeth Harnik – piano
Michael Zerang – drums/percussion

Excellent new cd, I think this is their 3rd album, recorded in Austria in 2020. Excellent sound, too.

Yes indeed, a fine performance. Picked it up from Dave at a pre-release concert. I highly recommend it. Dave will be bringing Ballister to Madison, Wisconsin towards the end of April; April 23rd to be precise.
