It was published online two decades ago in a blogzine called “DooBop” which was later absorbed by AAJ and was in their website for a while but I believe no longer. I did paste it recently into a post on the Hoffman board which possibly can be accessed via this link.
Michael shared a handful of facts that were not out there in the world before–and Michael Cook used some in his book about Blue Note. Made me proud to have scooped some Blue Note history.
Jealous here as I have always wanted this set on CD, but missed the opportunity. I believe it may be available as a download on BandCamp.
I do have this on the way from No Business out of Poland:
Here is a perfect example of my bias and stubbornness when it comes to the more popular vein of jazz, especially jazz covers of pop songs. I am listening to this at the moment and loving it. Featuring some of my favorite players, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland, and Wayne Shorter. Live and learn.
Well I just ordered a copy based on your recommendation and offer this one which I picked up on vinyl recently. My first thought was it was outtakes that just didn’t pass muster. Actually, the whole set is incredible.
I believe this is the Time In you may be referring to? I have not attempted to stream it as I have it on vinyl. I prefer Time Out and Time Further Out, and recommend this for hard core Brubeck fans.
Grrrgh…
I’ll check into it, maybe they have a misplaced copy. I recall these being available from Cadence in NY when initially released. They were on my want list, but never did buy them.
I assume you purchased the FLAC from Destination Out, not a CD copy.
This one is great! I have the LP and hires files.
The LP sounds great In most parts, but unfortunately is a mispressing in others throughout the batch.
I ordered the Vinylmeplease Hancock LP box set mainly to get a Grundman remastered version of this one.
