This one again. . . I got a chance to spin a few cds and this was already queued up and it sounds so good!
Eliane Elias “Kissed by Nature”
@danm: do you have any suggestions similar to Binker Golding’s Moon Day. I am on the constant search for new and challenging listening experiences.
SFJazz Collective “Works of Horace Silver and Original Compositions” disc 3
Among the best modern recordings available (all the Yarlung Mabuchi) and really good music even though nothing innovative, and due to the analog recording, very superior on vinyl. People will cry once they are sold out.
Oh wow, hadn’t seen there was a new album. I will check out Moon Day. Have you heard Village of the Sun (Golding with Moses Boyd and Simon Ratcliffe)? which is how I came to know Golding. And in turn Moses Boyd from his album Dark Matter, which was a Mercury Prize nominee. Really all new to me TBH.
@Jazznut I agree on all counts having all the Yalung Mabuchi LPs, great sounding, solid performances, but not an innovator. Enjoyable all the same. Fits in with the Sunday Morning Brunch aesthetic, which has its place.
Very airy, in the room, 3D sounding, makes use of the analog potential.
My experience as well.
Starlight music
Wonderful work. Riverside records, isn’t it?
Yes, Riverside
…and what a line-up!
