Building on the previous two days retrospective regarding my formative years exploring music the next logical progression was this particular LP, which more or less blew me away at the time. Jack DeJohnette Special Edition, Arthur Blythe, David Murray, Peter Warren, and Jack.
In parallel to the above I picked up the following David Murray LPs on India Navigation, David Murray Live Volume 1 and Live Volume 2.
Upon hearing these two fine LPs I circled back and picked up the India Navigation LP David Murray Flowers for Albert, featuring Fred Hopkins, Phillip Wilson and Olu Dara.
The David Murray sessions led to a new rabbit hole, splitting off in two branches with the following:
Black Saint LP The World Saxophone Quartet Steppin’ With The World Saxophone Quartet. Featuring David Murray, Oliver Lake, Julius Hemphill, and Hamiet Bluiett.
India Navigation LP Clarinet Summit In Concert at the Public Theater, featuring Alvin Batiste, John Carter, Jimmy Hamilton and David Murray. Volume Two was added to my listening world shortly thereafter.
Listening to the CD that accompanied John Corbett’s book Vinyl Freak, rarities that did not make it to CD.
