One of my favorites:
A couple of my favorites. This was my first Arista Freedom LP. I liked the cover, had no idea what Cecil was about to unleash. Took a bit of listening to acquire the addiction.
I picked up this when initially released, no regrets. I have enjoyed it so much it has been supplemented with those shown below it. The hook was set very deep indeed for my admiration of Cecil Taylor’s works.

This may be of interest; I’ve pre-ordered.
Coming out November 29:
Santana
[ SACD ] Welcome - Multi-ch Hybrid Edition - [Limited Release] [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)]
Agree completely! Staying on the Arista Freedom recordings one more time. First Randy Weston for me:
Listening to this one again after clearing snow from the deck and steps–themes were ear-worming me so I’m spinning it again.
Joe Lovano Ensemble “Streams of Expression–featuring the Birth of the Cool Suite by Gunther Schuller” Blue Note cd
Abbey Lincoln “Abbey Sings Billie Vol.2” Enja/Solid Records Japan cd
Nice soundtrack for watching the snow melting off the autumn leaves through the second floor window behind my stereo system.
Returning to the Arista Freedom LPs, it appears I have two copies of this one,

Marion Brown Porto Novo, with Han Bennink and Maarten van Regteben Altena.
Louis Moholo-Moholo, Dudu Pukwana, Johnny Dyani, and Reverend Frank Wright, Spiritual Knowledge and Grace, live in Eindhoven 1979. A strong set and a bit more out there than the Steeplechase series from the 1970’s.
Playing this one as I write. The Black Lion cover pales in comparison, the music is wonderful. Thanks!
In general I like what Arista Freedom did with the covers. The OG Black Lion pressings can be worthwhile though. Typically I picked up my Arista Freedom LPs when they hit the cut-out bins.
Continuing on with the Arista Freedom theme. Being a fan of Charles Mingus I was aware of Curson’s capabilities and picked up a few released as him as leader. Ted is featured here on piccolo trumpet as well as the more familiar trumpet. Joining Ted are Bill Barron, Herb Bushler, and Dick Berk.
I get the impression Dirk is a fan as he tends to repeatedly post a rather rare Ted Curson LP on the forum.
