Paul Bley Barrage a fine ESP CD reissue circa 2000 of an October 15, 1964 performance. The Paul Bley Quintet featuring Marshall Allen, Dewey Johnson, Eddie Gomez and Milford Graves. An eclectic and rather elastic assemblage of musicians.

Showed up a couple of days back, CARE Package from Acoustic Sounds. I have yet to crack these gems open.
I am most curious to hear how Ken Gray tackled the “abhorrent” Harmon mute.

First a thorough cleaning with the Kirmuss.

An excellent if somewhat under appreciated release from this fine quartet.
