Ray Russell - “live at the ICA”
Excellent description, clearly capturing his vibe, the freedom of childhood. Reminds ne of a video of him in concert stepping away from the piano and dancing.
An excellent listen!
A bit of Magg Zelma is just what I need at the moment. Daughters are off to greener pastures, Edinburgh.
Just about anything from these four is a pleasure to listen to. Cloud Dance and Grazing Dreams are stand outs.
Introducing Kenny Cox and the Contemporary Jazz Quintet, fans of mid-sixties Miles Davis are sure to appreciate this fine Blue Note reissue.
Just received my Hyde Park Jazz Festival email notification.
This free festival continues to be The One, being more experimental than the Chicago Jazz Festival. The festival is on and about the University of Chicago campus. Spend a few extra days in the area as there is plenty to do and see on campus as well. Jazz fans in the Chicago area will be treated to exceptional music offerings.
A taste of the offerings:
Ambrose Akinmusire
Immanuel Wilkins
Jason Roebke
John Irabagon
Mai Sugimoto
