Great….
Interesting.
Pops is going to be 124 years old tomorrow so I’m getting ready with Side 1 of this 2 LP set, three great tracks of Louis.
“Newport Jazz Festival: Live (Unreleased Highlights From 1956, 1958, 1963)” Columbia 2 LP set.

A fine Joel Dorn assemblege of Rahsaan Roland KIrk’s outtakes on the first two CDs, with a third CD offering up Natural Black Inventions: Root Strata. Rahsaan Roland Kirk Dog Years in the Fourth Ring.
A fine Cal Tjader Sextet set, featuring Stan Getz, Vince Guaraldi, Eddie Duran, Billy HIggins, and Scotty LaFaro. Ginza continues to be a welcome morning listen.
Another great late evening listen. A lyrical, intimate live set highlighting Mirabassi’s elegant touch and refined trio interplay. Well recorded!

If memory IfLive
If memory serves I believe I have all of John Zorn’s Masada series. I was really taken by the series.
I was going to buy the Masada studio box set today because it looks so cool..but I would be duplicating stuff I already have.
I decided to buy the Zorn “Bagatelles’ box sets instead.
The first four ‘Bagatelles’ cds are available on Qobuz, the first 2 (Mary Halvorson Quartet, Erik Friedlander) are amazing.
Russian jazz quartet Mekbuda Convincing Delusional. Mekbuda is:
Igor Shilov - Trumpet
Alex Petrov - Fender Rhodes
Dmitry Rubanov - Bass
Roman Zyryanov - Drums
Convincing Delusional is best described as crossed over Trip-Hop Soul Jazz. Slightly looking over its shoulder at Doug Carn’s Black Jazz Records 1971 soul jazz LP Infant Eyes.
I had picked this up hoping to discover another Russian jazz ensemble on the order of Ganelin Trio. Missed that bus.
This album brings back fond memories of the time when I went on retreat at Yogaville.
Burning Ambulance is re-releasing a bunch of Leo Records’ Ganelin Trio albums. Unfortunately I think they are download-only.
Good to know, thanks!
Now if Leo offered a discounted bundle for all 20, that would be something.
