Strictly Jazz Sounds (Part 3)

Contemporary/Acoustic Sounds/Bernie Grundman version sounds so good, I have no interest in paying $150 for the new UHQR version. IMO, maybe 50% of the UHQRs I’ve bought were worth the scratch.

Just read that Sheila Jordan is in hospice. Sad news. I decided to spin this one.

Sad news.

Sheila Jordan, a singular voice in jazz, has died

“2 Ts for a Lovely T”.

So happy that this amazing 10-cd set of the Cecil Taylor ‘Feel Trio’ (recorded at Ronnie Scott’s in London) is available on Qobuz. Astonishing music. The original box set is impossible to find, unfortunately.

More William Parker…..

Very sad news, indeed. Spinning my favorite Sheila Jordan now. She was 77 when this was released. 77!

Mixing it up with Fire Orchestra Arrival.

Wonderful music with two of my favorite musicians - Lars Danielsson and Paolo Fresu!

Super tubaist Theon Cross’s new release. Very spacey, super high energy, really nice. I need to go back and listen to his ‘Sons of Kemet’ stuff.

Melodic, modern euro-jazz at its finest considering the circumstances. Very well recorded live concert!

A remarkable record that I discovered last night. I am familiar with Cherry’s work with Ornette Coleman but this recording is something else.

Smooth, upbeat, and full of energy, this album blends polished jazz grooves with laid-back fun. Perfect for a sunny drive or just kicking back and letting the music flow.
