That’s the point I suppose. LOL
Thank you, sir!
I have to say, I am totally amazed at how much better these amps sound vs the Emotiva. Even being powered through that old 20ft extension cord! Don’t get me wrong, the Emotiva is a very decent amp and was capable of scaling up with equipment upgrades upstream, but my suspicions were correct about it possibly being a bottleneck for the Pass/Auralic combo.
Getting these Stratos amps up and running in my system has completely lit a fire in this setup. One thing I noticed right away was a complete fullness and evenness of the sound stage across the room. Before, that sound stage ran the width of the room well enough but seemed to be in “clumps” so to speak. Now it’s just one large, solid sheet of sound like an IMAX screen in your face.
The second thing that stands out clearly is the center image and vocals. It is now locked down in the center, and vocals have an actual presence of physically taking up space in the room between the speakers, as if that image alone has width, depth and height to it.
I’m also quite easily picking up other subtle details further back in the mix, far back in the stage, off to the sides, stuff that would seem to be typically berried/lost in less resolving systems, such as mine before these amps!
Yes, I was happy and content with the Emotiva amp, and it did an excellent job, especially considering its price point, but these Odyssey amps are on a totally different level. I would venture to say that this system is getting up there to “reference” levels. And if I compare it to a lot of the systems I’ve heard over the past few years at the Florida Audio Expo, I’d say my system surpasses most of them at a fraction of the size and cost.
